10 Things to Do in Bali, Indonesia: June 2019

Co-founder of Sol Passion Music – Hong Kong’s leading DJ and music production platform – Mike Wolf will be taking over Alternative Beach Canggu for a 4-hour DJ set of soul, funk, house, and techno vibin’. Known for his ability to seamlessly utilize 4 decks in his thoroughly crafted live remix sets, the Sydney-raised musician and producer has had numerous residencies and performances in Hong Kong’s best venues such as Drop and Volar, as well as festivals like Sonar and Clockenflap. Silver Rings Workshop

With the rise of creative workshop spaces all around Bali, the number creative workshops that comes with it is not a surprise. This month, Bisamake Makerspace – a crafty and creative space located in Seminyak – is hosting a silver stacked rings workshop, where six participants will be able to learn silversmith techniques and bring home their creation of silver rings! Spaces are that limited so book your spot now.

Rise to IBIZA IN BALI

Live Jazz at the Z with Jeko Fauzy Trio

Wind down with some quality Italian food and a good dose of jazz with Jeko Fauzi Trio every Wednesday at Zibiru Restaurant this June. Jeko, the remarkable young jazz guitarist who trained as a classical musician, alongside Indra Gupta on bass and Iman Najib on drums, have been enchanting audiences in Bali’s jazz scene for years at intimate gigs and open mic sessions.

Jenja x Sundance Bali presents: Radio Slave

Sundance Bali presents the homecoming of Berghain/Panorama Bar’s icon and resident, Matt Edwards (also known as Radio Slave) back at Jenja’s dance floor. The award-winning Berlin-based electronic music producer and DJ is widely recognised as one of the greatest remixers ever. Expect a night of loopy and hypnotic house and techno tunes and, in celebration of his birthday, the party in themed “Life In Techno Colours”!

Deus 9ft & Single Surf, Art, Film & Music Fest 2019

It’s that time of the year again! Nine times the charm, the Deus ‘9ft & Single’ long weekend of art, music, film & surf will feature daytime beach festivities including  The Deus Bali Fish Fry and The Deus Womp Comp, while evening happenings you can expect include band performances, art exhibitions (Lookback & Layback by Andrew Wellman) and Sunday’s Wrap Up Party. Late night pizza snackers and special drinks will be available all weekend long at the restaurant.

Look forward to another epic house and techno voyage at Uluwatu’s infamous cliffside stage! Topping is known for having adorned the lineup of global music festivals such as Coachella, Awakenings, Ultra, and Tomorrowland, as well as further remixes for Calvin Harris and Booka Shade. Expect an award-wining DJ set featuring Topping’s original remixes in the likes of Tasty On The Cobbles and Clamped, from 4pm til’ drop.

Vue presents Télépopmusik

Following their Sash Bali Open Air even earlier in the month, Vue Beach Club is hosting yet another major gig, this time featuring Christophe Hetier’s – Anti-Pop of the legendary French electronic trio, Télépopmusik – DJ set. On top of songs from their globally celebrated albums such as Angel Milk and Genetic World, Anti-Pop will be gracing the open-air dance floor with elegant sounds such as Télépopmusik’s Grammy nominated single Breathe and his personal bewildering electronic tunes.

Batik Week: Exploring Batik & Natural Dyes

Dive deep into the world of Batik making with Threads Of Life’s weeklong workshop with five days of studio time learning about existing batik practices and a new fibre form, through creative activities and detailed field research of Indonesia’s ancient natural dye traditions. The workshop is limited to 10 participants only, though beginners through to advanced practitioners are welcome, one and all.

Phoenix Sundays with Pete Tong

OMNIA Beach Club’s June calendar is looking incredibly busy, but some gigs stand out more than others – like the Phoenix Sundays edition starring English DJ, producer and BBC1 broadcaster Pete Tong. With original mixes such as Time For Love as well as his remarkable collaborative playlists with the likes of John Monkman and Andrea Oliva, Tong is known for being one to rock dancefloors with his ‘classical’ house and techno tunes, often his selection of old school disco as well. Look out for “Sake & Sound” sessions in the OMNIA lounge with their resident DJs for an after party in the evening!
