The month of Ramadan is starting in a couple of days, and we’re pretty positive that you will be scouting for halal eateries to assemble your friends and family for an evening of scrumptious food and bonding. Break your fast and enjoy dinner at these five restaurants that range from hotel buffets and Indonesian food to contemporary Thai fare.
StraitsKitchen

The Halia
During this holy month, surround yourself with greenery at a UNESCO World Heritage Site as you dine on Halia’s Communal Feast, a 12-course meal featuring their modern European dishes with Asian influences. Suited for a group of four to six, highlights of the 12-course meal includes Blue Fin Tuna Tartare with Thai basil and ponzu jelly, Blackmore Wagyu Spare Ribs with puffed rice and jerked spiced barbecue sauce, and Sticky Toffee Pudding. Wash it all down with Halia’s Herbarium mocktail made with fresh rambutan, star anise, and cinnamon.

Carousel
Boasting one of the largest spreads for an international buffet in Singapore, Carousel is a well-loved instituition in the Orchard neighbourhood. Featuring both local and Peranakan cuisines, diners could make a beeline for the ever-classic Singapore Chilli Crab with Golden Mantous and Grilled Stingray with Sambal and Chincalok, or the Ayam Buah Keluak. Satiate your sweet tooth with an array of traditional Nonya Kueh, and evoke your childhood memories with old-school snacks like the Chocolate Wafers.

Blue Jasmine
Who says you can’t have your fill of Thai food during Ramadan? To welcome this holy season, Blue Jasmine merges the familiar flavours of various Southeast Asian cuisines, and offers not just one but two menus. Seafood lovers will be in for a treat with the Seafood Night Buffet, which includes dishes such as the Tom Yum Red with Seafood. For those who revel in charred goodness, the Grill & Roast Night buffet is set to warm you up with the zesty Devil Wings. Be sure to make room for the Coconut Pudding with Berry Compotes, though!

Kintamani
Established in 1985 and the first halal restaurant to be situated in a hotel, Kintamani leads the halal dining scene without a doubt. The revived menu, curated by Chef I Gusti Nyoman Kaler, showcases a new dish that will further enhance the authentic Balinese dining experience. With a combination of spices such as yellow ginger and fresh chilli, the Wok-Fried Spicy Prawn with Wild Petai delivers a punch of tangy heat.
