Kilo Under Pressure #4: Lloyd Moffatt
Following the footsteps of amateur chefs Oliver Budgen and Juan Phoa, we see young Australian Lloyd Moffatt this Thursday as he takes over the Kilo Kallang for the fourth edition of Kilo under pressure. Unlike his predecessors, Llolyd doesn’t have any fond memories of home-cooked food while growing up. In fact, his passion for cooking started from something simple: chicken wings. Now his style embraces complex techniques, with unpretentious dishes like a hearty mushroom and leek croquette, homemade raviolis, and a rustic apple and rhubarb pie.
Kilo Under Pressure #4 is happening on Thursday, 7 July 2016, 6pm at Kilo Kallang. The 4-Course Menu is priced at $65++ per person. For more details, check out the event page here.
Club Malam
Inspired by the night club scenes of the 50s and 60s, Club Malam brings to you a four-hour rave within the Old Kallang Airport, mixing avant-garde rock with pop, and performance with digital media and installation. Featuring 8 artists from Germany, Jogjakarta and Singapore, look out for local artist Speak Cryptic’s first ever performance piece, involving 100 public participants, as well as the much sought out music duo Senyawa, and contemporary Malay music group NADA, among others.
Club Malam is happening from 7 to 9 July 2016 at Old Kallang Airport. Tickets are priced from $10, available here. For more details, please click here.
Laugh Die You – The Karaoke
For two nights only, this Malaysia vs Singapore wise-cracking stand up comedy routine will leave you howling with laughter for three hours straight. Expect the best comedians of both countries as they pit against each other in belly-aching guffaws – representing Malaysia is femme extraordinaire Joanne Kam, whose acid-tongue humour will be challenged by Singapore’s effervescent Kumar… no introduction needed, right? The verbal shootoff will be moderated by none other than funnyman Gurmit Singh, aka Phua Chu Kang, and backed by Malaysia’s home-grown rock band Hydra.
Fun fact: Laugh Die You is a direct translation of the Cantonese phrase “siu sei lei” (laugh until die)
Laugh Die You is happening on 9 & 10 July 2016 at Resorts World Theatre. Tickets are priced from $68, available here.
