i Light Singapore Bicentennial Edition

Curated to the theme of “Bridges of Time”, expect a multitude of over 30 engaging light art installations around our little island. Be mesmerised by the various artworks which explore topics of connectivity, and Singapore’s growth over the last 700 years. Not only does the event shed light on history, but it also aims to inspire sustainable habits, where all installations are designed with energy-saving or environmentally-friendly materials. Spanning the central area of Singapore, from Marina Bay, the Civic District, Singapore River, and Raffles Terrace at Fort Canning Park, explore and take in the dreamlike pieces, or participate in the festival’s various fringe activities.

i Light Singapore is happening from 28 January to 24 February 2019 at various locations. You can see the full list of installations featured here, and fringe programs here

The Break-Up Poetry Slam

In a collaboration with Word Forward comes The Break-Up Poetry Slam, Blu Jaz Café‘s official final public entertainment event. If you need even more incentive to rant about an ex in public, the two best poets of the night will win $50 and $25 respectively. Audience members also have the chance to win a Mystery Book prize by Word Forward. Sign up for your slot by posting on their event page or head down early for a chance to be squeezed in.

Justine is a down-to-earth girl who believes there’s always room for dessert. You can find her tucked away in Singapore’s hidden nooks, either reading or writing – but definitely eating. Otherwise, she spends most of her time volunteering at Touch Young Arrows, teaching children from low-income families.
