5 Things To Do In Singapore This Week: 31st December 2018 to 6th January 2019

There might not be much in the way of events this new week of 2019, but the partying don’t stop. From a fundraising music festival with all the big wigs to the first ‘Gimme Shelter’ of the year, this is how you start things right. But first, how about a grand New Year’s Eve par-tee at the sparkling Holey Moley?

Holey Moley New Year’s Eve Party

This spanking new golf club along Clarke Quay looks set to make New Year’s Eve a putt above the rest — all trimmings included. For $300, you’ll get unlimited access to the establishment’s delightful mini-golf courses (think Game of Thrones and The Simpsons), live entertainment, and exclusive use of their party area all night long. Oh yes, booze and food are free from 8pm till midnight, so really, there’s no more unique way to see 2018 out.

Putt-y away on Monday, 31 December 2018, 8pm to 12am at Holey Moley Clarke Quay. Tickets available at the door. For more details, check out the event page here.

Virtually Versailles: A Digital Exploration

If you’re like us and can’t travel back in time, you’ll probably be impressed by the Virtually Versailles exhibition at ION Orchard. Using highly immersive and interactive technology, you’ll get to relive the splendours of the Palace of Versailles, and of course, the finest in French art, culture, and history dating from the 17th century to the present day. There’s only one week left to view the showcase, so be quick.

Explore the wonders of Versailles from now to 6 January 2019 at ION Art Gallery, 10am – 10pm. Admission is free. For more details, check out the event page here.

In case you don’t have the patience to wait till Friday, start the revelry early at Kilo Lounge’s Ladies Night with funky and soulful selectors DJ Justo and Ollie’Des, both turntablists who’s travelled the region spreading all things hip-hop and reggae to dancehall and trap. This ones for the girl squads and dreams teams: ladies get free entry and a complimentary cocktail, while the boys don’t lose out too much with 1-for-1 Sapporo, wines, and house pour drinks under $20.

Get your party on this Wednesday, 2 January 2019 at Kilo Lounge, from 10pm onwards. $20 cover charge for men, available at the door. For more details, check out the event page here.

The Outer Limits (A Fundraising Music Festival)

The Outer Limits is the very first fundraising festival organised by local music promoters SGMUSO, and it’s going to be fuelled by gin cocktails, courtesy of Hendrick’s Gin. Look out for three exciting segments happening this Saturday: Up and Coming will feature emerging musicians showcasing their material, Comeback Bands will pay homage to the pioneers of the scen, and The Light Show will see a full-fledged visual and aural experience with headliners Linying, Caracal, and Sezairi. Profits will go towards development plans to further promote the local music scene, so it’s really a win-win.

Enjoy the splendours of Singapore music on Saturday, 5 January 2019 at *SCAPE The Ground Theatre, 3pm 10pm. Tickets are priced from $25 onwards (pay any amount), available here. For more details, check out the event page here.

Gimme Shelter

Gimme Shelter draws its musical and ideological inspiration from New York’s Loft, Paradise Garage, Zanzibar, and Chicago’s Warehouse.

Word on the street is that Intermission Bar (and with it The Projector) is going to move not long from now, so don’t miss out on one of its signature events this Saturday. The first ‘Gimme Shelter’ party of the year will see the Mexican-born KiloWatt Soundsystem member Gonzo, AK Soul, who started his carrier on DJing in Osaka/Kyoto in late 90s, and Disko Kosmik, who was once called the Yuri Gagarin of disco music by Throwing Stone Magazine. As usual, the party series is about the bringing back forgotten dance classics and a timeless house party vibe, where the only rule is everybody dance!

Gimme Shelter is happening on Saturday, 5 January 2019 at Intermission Bar, 9pm – 3pm. Admission is free. For more details, check out the event page here.
