5 Things To Do This Week In Singapore: 22nd to 28th February 2016

The Rooftop Relaunch Party: TK DISCO

It’s tiki time at Potato Head Folk this Wednesday as they celebrate their newly renovated rooftop with a party complete with shots, skewers, special cocktail deals, and a live tiki band. Enjoy a tropical bohemian vacation vibe right in the heart of the city at this rare rooftop spot, with stunning views of modern skyscrapers and heritage shophouses.

The Effect

Award-winning local production company Pangdemonium kicks off its 2016 season with The Effect by Lucy Prebble, a British import about theworkings of the human brain. Protagonists Connie (psychology student) and Tristan (professional sla cker) participate in a clinical drug experiment and find themselves increasingly attracted to each other. Is this chemical romance a side effect of the drug? Betwixt Festival Sunday Showcase: Art & Bytes

Betwixt Festival is presenting a special edition three-day showcase, totally free! Featuring an art exhibition by Austrian artist LIA (considered one of the pioneers of software and net art), 6 works from an Open Call which attracted over 170 submissions from different parts of the world; and a film screening on American artist Lillian Schwartz’s life and her works. There will also be guided tours for the exhibition.

KOI Izakaya Post-Work Street Party

Start the weekend right; join the good folks at KOI Izakaya for yet another instalment of post-office funk along Haji Lane, where DJs Rocky Sauve UK (Spank/ Sleazy listening), Tiel BE (Spank/ Sleazy listening), Major Lens UK (Singapore soul club), Tommy Rocksteady UK (Rocksteady soul BBQ), Kentaro (Mugic), My Hero will be playing the best in soul, disco, boogie and house.

Kool & the Gang Live in Singapore

World-famous R&B band Kool & the Gang will be playing their brand of jazz, soul, and funk on our shores this Saturday! Formed way back in 1964, the band has sold more than 70 million albums worldwide and earned two Grammys, seven American Music Awards, 25 Top Ten R&B hits, and nine Top Ten Pop hits. Till today, ‘Celebration’, the immortal party anthem, remains de rigueur at joyous occasions. ‘Jungle Boogie’, ‘Summer Madness’, ‘Ladies Night’, ‘Get Down On It’, ‘Cherish’ and ‘Fresh’ further solidified the group’s international stardom.
