My Love is Blind: The Musical

Ever wondered what it’s like to be a visually handicapped performer? Based on a true story, My Love is Blind stars veteran actor Benjamin Chow (Forbidden City, Tango, RENT) alongside several visually handicapped actors, and follows the trials and tribulations of Tan Guan Heng, a young man who loses his sight during his prime. With masterful music by Kevin Seah and melodious storytelling written by Leon Fo, come witness his story and determination to overcome all odds to achieve his dreams. The show is presented by Musical Theatre Ltd, an arts charity based in Singapore.

My Love is Blind is running from 23 to 26 November 2017 at SOTA Drama Theatre, 3pm (Sat-Sun) and 8pm (Thu-Sat). Tickets are priced at $40, $65, and $80, available via SISTIC. For more details, check out the event page here.

Meet The Makers

Want to meet the makers and shakers of Singapore’s creative sphere? MakerHive by The Hive Co-Working Singapore is launching at its new Kallang location this Friday, and will celebrate with appearances by some of the city’s top artists, sculptors, and creative brands, including Mighty Jaxx, kult, Polkaros, UTAMA Co., and Daniel Yu. Come check out their latest works, and just maybe, even a sneak peek of their unreleased prototypes.

Mama White Snake

Is W!LD RICE’s Mama White Snake the perfect musical for the family? Perhaps so. Full of heart and humour, this is one epic adventure that as you might have guessed, is based on the classic Chinese folktale Madam White Snake. When Meng runs off on his own and enrols at a martial arts school, he inadvertently discovers his family’s secret: his mother and aunt are the magical White Snake and Green Snake of legend. But there’s a catch, his mysterious teacher has an ancient grudge against his family, leading to chaos all around. The musical, directed by Pam Oei, features a sparkling script by Alfian Sa’at and sees a stellar cast of Ivan Heng, Siti Khalijah Zainal, Glen Goei, and more.

Mama White Snake is running from 24 November to 16 December 2017 at the Drama Centre Theatre, 2.30pm (Sat-Sun) and 7.30pm (Tue-Sun). Tickets are priced at $45, $60, and $70, available via SISTIC. For more details, check out the event page here.

Beatroot presents Gabriele Poso Live in Singapore

Beatroot returns for its last party of the year with acclaimed virtuoso Gabriele Poso – producer, multi-instrumentalist, and musical director of The Yoruba Soul Orchestra for Grammy-winner DJ Osunlade. With support from the likes of Gilles Peterson, Lefto, and Mark de Clive-Lowe, he’s been through Rome, the island of Puerto Rico, Cuba, and most recently Berlin. This Saturday, find him at Montreux Jazz Cafe for a blast of a time.

Pinot Palooza
