5 Things To Do This Week in Singapore: 25 December to 31 December 2017

Can we just say what’s an amazing year it’s been? For the last week of 2018, take it slow with a visit to SAM at 8Q’s annual open house and to the surreal Cloud Forest. Then, things get a little crazier, heralding the new year with a party to remember at Kilo Lounge, an elegant speakeasy-style dinner at Employee’s Only, and free-flow drinks all night at Nosh.

SAM at 8Q Christmas Open House

At SAM at 8Q’s annual Christmas Open House, catch repeat screening of the stop-motion musical classic, The Nightmare Before Christmas, and you’ll even get to participate in a little workshop that lets you create your own set, characters, and props. Got kids? The younglings can try their hand at making elf ears and elf hats, all while being serenaded by seasoned acapella and choir groups. Then, explore the thought-provoking works of contemporary art by artists across Asia in the museum’s latest exhibition, Cinerama: Art and the Moving Image in Southeast Asia.

Celebrate the special holidays on Monday, 25 December 2017 at the Singapore Art Museum, 10am – 7pm. Admission is free. For more details, check out the event page here.

IgNight @ Cloud Forest

You might remember Gardens by the Bay’s iconic Cloud Forest, but you haven’t seen it like this. IgNight is a three-day experiential and interactive extravaganza of light and sound as you prepare to enter the New Year. It’s a technologically-driven showcase full of multi-touch interactivity, motion sensors, art installations, and augmented reality experiences, and oh boy, is it stunning. Discover yourself according to hidden auras that are based on 12 famous personalities, including Marco Polo, Mother Theresa, Mohammad Ali, Steve Jobs, and Genghis Khan – and as meaningful as it sounds, it’s also a lot of fun.

Experience IgNight from 29 to 31 December 2017 at Cloud Forest, Gardens by the Bay, 6pm – 10pm daily. Admission charges to the Cloud Forest apply. For more details, check out the event page here

With the notion that quality surpasses all genre, this edition sees CÉ LA VI Singapore veteran Sivanesh, disco mobile jockey Joshua P, and Jakarta techno nerd JEHM, all ready to dish out some mindblowing chops to bring the house down.

Get hopping with Haan and friends on Saturday, 30 December 2017 at Kilo Lounge, 10pm – 4am. Entry is priced at $20 (free entry before midnight). For more details, check out the event page here.
