As we launch into October, watch a short film by an acclaimed Taiwanese artist, jump into a cheeky pool party, swing your hips to reggae at The Projector, dance with awesome music and good food, and more!
Screenings: Chia-Wei Hsu
The popular NTU CCA at Gillman Barracks is back with yet another screening, and this time it’s a series of works by award-winning Taiwanese artist Chia-Wei Hsu, known for unearthing histories of the Cold War and bringing them back to life through narratives that blend myth and reality. The three works, completed over a span of more than five years, are Huai Mo Village (2012) and Ruins of The Intelligence Bureau (2015), both produced in Thailand, and also White Building (2016), filmed on a rooftop in Cambodia. Tackling everything from the story of exiled Chinese soldiers who settled at the Thai-Myanmar border to the Khmer Rouge’s violent repression in Cambodia, this is your chance to meet the artist in person!
Screenings: Chia-Wei Hsu is happening on Friday, 6 October 2017, 7.30pm – 9pm, at NTU Centre for Contemporary Art. Admission is free. For more details, check out the event page here.
