Support a young talent this week as a self-professed kampung boy homecook takes up the chef’s hat; down espressos to your heart’s content at Singapore’s first speciality coffee festival; and groove to local musicans at a massive boat music party – that’s just some of the exciting happenings going on this week in Singapore.
Kilo Under Pressure with Juan Phoa
Earlier this month, Kilo opened its kitchen to an amateur chef, rebooting the Kilo Under Pressure series it first hosted five years ago. Six other home cooks are lined up to take over the Kilo Kallang kitchen in the coming months, and this Thursday sees self-proclaimed Malaysian kampung boy Juan Phoa.
He’ll be putting his childhood on a plate, serving up local dishes with an upscale, unexpected spin – think the food-court staple ‘mee hoon kueh’ done like you’ve never imagined and the nostalgic White Rabbit candy…as a plated dessert!
Kilo Under Pressure with Juan Phoa is happening on Thursday, 9 June 2016, 6pm at Kilo Kallang. Dinner is priced at $65++. For more details, check out the event page here.
