5 Things To Do This Week in Singapore: 8 January to 14 January 2018

Kult: Games and Politics Launch Party

Kult’s exhibitions are always different (and fascinating), so it isn’t much of a surprise that it will now host Games and Politics, a curation that’s already toured in various countries, including the United States, Philippines, and Indonesia. Presented in partnership with the Goethe-Institut, this is your chance to play digital computer games that deal with socially-relevant topics such as democracy, surveillance, war, gender, and migration, along with several artworks and films on view. See, games aren’t always childish.

Kult’s Games and Politics Launch Party is happening on Friday, 12 January 2018 at kult gallery, 7pm – 11pm. Admission is free. For more details, check out the event page here.

Art from the Streets

What do Banksy, Shepard Fairey, Seen, and Vhils have in common? For one, they are three of the world’s biggest names in street art, and also three out of the 50 artists that will showcase their works at Art from the Streets, the first major retrospective of street art ever display in Southeast Asia. Tracing 40 years of the artistic movement from its early beginning to its rise as an urban art form, you’ll get to see nearly 200 works ranging from on-site projects, paintings, and installations to videos, archives and sketches. Dope!

Art from the Streets is running from 13 January to 3 June 2018 at the ArtScience Museum. Museum admission charges apply. For more details, check out the event page here.
