Steps away from the rolling Indian Ocean on the infamous Seminyak Beach lined with chic restaurants, boutique, and trendy nightlife spots sits Anantara Seminyak Bali Resort. The luxurious all-suite retreat comprises 59 elegant suites and a penthouse, all of which combine 21st century conveniences with Balinese-inspired decor in free-flow living spaces.
At 80 square metres (861 square feet), each suite also feature floor-to-ceiling glass doors and windows, and whichever suite you’re in, take a moment to enjoy the signature terrazzo hydro tubs – perfect for two – on your private balcony.
Apart from the gorgeous suite and amenities that come along with it, I treated myself to a pampering 60-minute treatment at Anantara Spa. With just four treatment rooms (two singles and two couples’), it’s private, exclusive, and you get the full attention from the therapists that you deserve. The fact that guests have the option to select their choice of music in the treatment room – instead of listening to generic classical music – is also rather impressive. Needless to say, the music with the right pressure of kneading and smell of lemongrass brought my mind and body to peace.
A much preferred choice of activity after a spa treatment is most definitely unwinding with a glass of beverage at Moonlite Kitchen and Bar where you get panoramic views of the sunset against the Indian Ocean from four storeys above the ground and without the usually-rowdy crowds on Seminyak Beach.
Where food is concerned, Anantara Seminyak Bali Resort offers a few choices if you’re looking for a dinner spot without travelling too far (or at all, for that matter). Moonlite Kitchen and Bar is known for its rooftop culinary experience, cocktails, and a well-stocked international wine repertoire while Wild Orchid Restaurant has a casual, beach club vibe. Cosy into beanbags on the sparkling sands and enjoy ambient evenings with signature cocktails and shisha.
We went for Moonlite Kitchen and Bar, which affords two types of seating – the Balinese-inspired dining room or on the open-air deck with panoramic Indian Ocean views – with a modern Asian menu prepared out of their open kitchen.
Above all, Anantara offer unique activities and excursions to guests with ample opportunities to explore the exotic natural beauty or spiritual heartland of Bali. Spend the day with a spirit man who will carry out ancient and sacred Balinese rituals before heading out to tiered rice paddies for a meditation session.
