Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants Awards 2015: The Results

We can’t say we’re surprised that Restaurant André retained its Best Restaurant in Singapore title and rising one place, securing the No. 5 spot amongst Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants this year.

Sponsored by S.Pellegrino and Acqua Panna, 10 Singaporean restaurants made it to the top 50 with favourites like Waku Ghin (No. 9), Jaan (No.11), Les Amis (No.13), and Iggy’s (No.18) re-appearing on the list. Fans of Burnt Ends, the restaurant made a debut in the rankings at a very respectable No. 30! Furthermore, Chef Tetsuya Wakuda of Waku Ghin also received The Diners Club® Lifetime Achievement Award.

Bagging the coveted award of Best Restaurant in Asia is Gaggan (Bangkok), which has also taken Best Restaurant in Thailand, edging out 2014 winner, Nahm (No. 7). Gaggan’s rise has been quite meteoric, having made its debut in last year Asia’s Best 50 at No. 17.

Another trend we’re seeing is the rise of Korean gastronomy – the East Asian nation sees two new entries in the top 50; Ryunique (No.27) and La Yeon (No.38). The latter also earned the One To Watch award sponsored by Peroni Nastro Azzurro. Chef Jungsik Yim’s flagship restaurant in Seoul, Jungsik, rose an impressive 10 places as well to No.10, earning the title of Best Restaurant in Korea.
