Xin Cuisine Chinese Restaurant: Buddha Jumps Over The Wall
The Supreme Braised Buddha Jumps Over The Wall (pictured in article header) may sound bizarre, and in a good way, it is. At $388 for a small pot and $688 for a large one, this new takeaway creation at Xin Cuisine Chinese Restaurant is just one of the many treasure pots delicately and painstakingly prepared by Executive Chinese Chef Chan Shun Wong, and boasts luxurious ingredients like the premium eight-headed whole abalone, superior fish maw, sea cucumber, goose web, pig trotter, dried scallops, flower mushroom and ling zhi mushroom. It’s not quite Chinese New Year without the obligatory lo hei either – get the delicious Salmon Yusheng with Fish Skin and Passion Fruit Yogurt Dressing ($78/S, $98/L) to go, and for good measure, how about some of Xin’s popular Yam and Pumpkin Cake ($48)?

The Carvery: Pulled Pork Lohei
Ever tried a yu sheng platter with pulled pork? And we’re not talking just any pork, but premium quality meat from The Carvery, the restaurant known for its meltingly tender roasts. Min Jiang: Tree of Blossoming Treasures
It’s not Chinese New Year without some delectable festive treats, and one of the stars this year is undoubtedly Min Jiang’s stunning Tree of Blossoming Treasures ($98 nett). The 28-cm tall edible showpiece is inspired by the bonsai tree’s delicate beauty, made with vanilla pound cake for the ingot base and fondant icing and chocolate for the curvy branches and mini ingots – talk about prosperous. While you’re at it, go for the addictive Salted Egg Yolk Yam Chips with Sichuan Spice ($36.80 nett) made with the chef’s addictive mala seasoning.

Hai Tien Lo: Homemade Kumquat Sugee and Cantonese Sponge Cake
Nothing says good fortune like the novel and very fruity Homemade Kumquat Sugee Cake from award-winning restaurant Hai Tien Lo. Wrapped in a beautiful pink fondant layer on the outside and intensely fragrant, citrusy, and moist on the inside, you can also complement this with the savoury Cantonese Sponge Cake (a traditional favourite) that’s spiked with salted egg.
