Sundari Day Spa
Beautifully appointed interiors, skilled massage therapists and an extensive selection of treatments are some of the factors that draw customers back to Sundari Day Spa. What places this spa parlour a cut above the rest, though, is its impeccable service. The staff are welcoming and courteous, and before starting on a massage, you’re asked to fill out a form to indicate your preferences – such as pressure preferences and if you’d like the therapist to focus on certain parts of your body during the treatment. Beauty junkies will enjoy trying out treatments like the oxygen facial with stem cell therapy caviar extract face mask.
Sundari Day Spa is located at Jl. Petitenget No. 7, Kerobokan, Seminyak, Bali, p. +62 361 735073. Open 10am-10pm daily.
Prana Spa Seminyak
Enjoying a prime location in the heart of Seminyak, Prana Spa is perfect if you’re seeking a mid-day massage or spa treatment in between exploring the myriad shops and cafes in the neighbourhood. Prana stands out from the crowd with its gorgeous Indian and Moroccan-inspired decor, restful ambience and ultra-luxe treatments. Try out the Shirodhara Treatment, a relaxing experience that starts off with a head, scalp, neck and shoulder massage, followed by a slow, steady pouring of medicinal oils over your sixth chakra to induce calmness and relieve anxiety.
Prana Spa Seminyak is located at Jl. Kunti I No.118x, Seminyak, Bali, p. +62 361 730840. Open 9am-10pm daily.
Spring Spa
Situated across from the W on Jalan Petitenget, the trendy Spring Spa boasts a stylish white interior and contemporary fittings. There’s something for everyone here, whether you’re looking to primp up before a special night out or seeking ultimate relaxation with a Balinese massage. Or go full out with treatments that take care of every inch of your body – starting with a Bali Crème Bath to nourish your locks, followed by a detoxifying charcoal facial, Spring Stretch Therapy massage and French Pedicure. They also have another outlet in The Village Mall if that’s more convenient.
Spring Spa is located at 100x Jl. Petitenget, Seminyak, Bali, p. +62 852 3914 1775. Open 9am-9pm daily.
Chill Reflexology
A pampering treat doesn’t always have to cost an arm and leg, and Chill Reflexology is a place where budget travellers will find relaxation and bliss – at an affordable price. The atmosphere is quiet and zen-like, and to help you zone out completely you’ll be handed an iPod and an eye mask for your treatment. Opt for The Classic, a massage that starts off at your feet and ankles to relieve fatigue, and ends off at the neck and shoulders to relax common areas of tension in your body.
Chill Reflexology is located at Jl. Kunti I, Seminyak, Kuta, Bali, p. +62 361 734701. Open 10am-10pm daily.
Celestine Spa
A spa treatment at Celestine – nestled within The Stones Hotel – begins on the right note; you’re welcomed with a cup of warm tea upon entering the venue. Cream colours dominate within, creating a setting that’s soothing and easy on the eyes. A variety of treatments are listed on the menu, but we’d recommend going for the signature The Stones Art Movement – an utterly relaxing treatment featuring a combination of long strokes, rocking and stretching techniques, along with a warm stone massage.
Celestine Spa is located at The Stones Hotel, Jl. Raya Kerobokan, Legian, Kuta, Bali, p. +62 361 300 5888. Open 8am-9pm daily.
Merapu Svaasthya Wellness
Set within the picturesque grounds of the Desa Seni Yoga Resort, Merapu Svaasthya Wellness is a refreshing change from the contemporary spa parlours peppered across the town; this venue oozes traditional Balinese charm with its timber joglo setting, simple decor and massage beds draped over with batik sarongs. The vibe here is rustic and laidback, and the menu of treatment includes the usual offerings – like the deep tissue massage and body scrubs – along with healing rituals, such as the 90-minute Aura Chakra Therapy.
Merapu Svaasthya Wellness is located at Jl. Subak Sari #13 Pantai Berawa, Canggu, Bali, p. +62 361 844 6392.
Spa At Maya Ubud
Spa junkies, you’re in for a treat at Maya Ubud Resort & Spa! This hilltop venue boasts views out to the river valley and a serene ambience that facilitates rest and relaxation. Spa treatments here are made all the more special due to the venue’s natural surroundings – you’ll hear soothing sounds of the flowing river and birds chirping in the trees as you unwind with a full body massage. And don’t be in any hurry to leave after your treatment – stay on to linger at the River Cafe, where you’ll enjoy vistas out to the river gorge while you dine on wholesome, delicious fare.
Spa At Maya Ubud is located at Jl. Gunung Sari, Peliatan, Ubud, Bali, p. +62 361 977888. Open 9am-8pm daily.
Bamboo Bali Spa
Bamboo Bali Spa is one of those places that checks off all the right boxes: a cosy ambience, relaxing vibes, friendly service and top-notch massage treatments. The venue’s neutral colour palette, tasteful furnishings and genial staff will set you at ease the moment you step in, and its central location along Jalan Raya Ubud (just across the road from Kue Cafe) makes it convenient to stopover for a massage in between your sightseeing or shopping trips.
Bamboo Bali Spa is located at Jl. Raya Ubud No.5, Petulu, Ubud, Bali, p. +62 822 4760 6797. Open 11am-9pm daily.
Hotel Tjampuhan Spa
For those who prefer something more rustic and a tranquil setting over the ultra-modern, sleek spa venues in the centre of town, this one’s for you. Tucked away in the grounds of the Hotel Tjampuhan, the spa features a hidden, cave-like setting and lush surroundings peppered with abundant tropical foliage. We recommend enjoying an outdoor massage along the edge of the river bands of the Campuhan river, followed up with alternating sessions in the steam room and refreshing dips in the cool water bath.
Hotel Tjampuhan Spa is located at Jl. Raya Campuhan PO Box 198, Ubud, Bali, p. +62 361 975368.
Bali Dacha
Located 30 minutes away from central Ubud, Bali Dacha is favoured by the expatriate crowd in Ubud, but remains relatively unheard of among holidaymakers. Don’t come with expectations of having a typical Balinese massage, for this Russian sauna offers an unordinary experience. Start off with a session in the sauna, followed by the unusual Russian tradition of being whipped by a bundle of wet eucalyptus leaves (to improve blood circulation). Once you’re relieved of tight and tense muscles, head to the swimming pool for a dip, or warm up by the fire pit with a cup of spiced tea.
Bali Dacha is located at Bedulu, Blahbatuh, Bedulu, Bali, p. +62 812 3844 4408.
