Business in the Front, Party in the Back: Burgers and Bangers by Chef Poupee – Review

As a self-proclaimed food aficionado, I pride myself on finding the hidden gems that haven’t yet made the big time. A while back, I was probing the WWW for some undiscovered talent when I stumbled across ‘Burgers and Bangers by Chef Poupee’. The book of faces told me it was reasonably priced and not far from home so away I trotted on my little food adventure.

Located directly beside On Nut BTS station, Burgers and Bangers is an English themed eatery that serves up the very best of western comfort food. As I was nursing a hangover at the time of my visit, the menu could not have been more appreciated.

Burgers & Bangers’ Buns

For those whom are just a tad peckish, the snacks menu provides you with beloved nibbles such as Chicken Nuggets (95/135 bt), Southern Fried Chicken Wings (110 bt), and Beer Battered Onion Rings (70 bt). These can also be doubled as sides to accompany Chef Poupee’s signature burgers such as the Pork and Apple Burger (169 bt), Beef Burger with Crispy Bacon (189 bt) and the Minced Lamb Burger (209 bt). All burgers are generous in size and with an extra 35 bt, arrive with Potato Wedges, Green Salad or Potato Salad.

Burgers & Bangers’ Cumberland Sausage

You simply can’t call yourself an English restaurant without some hearty Bangers and Mash on the menu. At Burgers and Bangers, you won’t be disappointed with Cumberland (coiled pork sausage seasoned with black pepper), Lincolnshire (pork sausage seasoned with herbs), and Pork and Apple (pork sausage mixed with caramelised green apple, all 189 bt) on offer. A perfect trio of buttery mash potato, onion gravy, and sautéed green peas accompanies sausages. Nom, nom, nom!

Burgers & Bangers’ Meat Balls

Although not traditionally English, I felt obligated to try the Chef’s Special Meat Balls, which came at a very affordable 189 THB. I’m one of those people terrified of missing out on the good things in life so I’m constantly lured in by the idea of a ‘Daily Special’ or ‘Limited Edition’ item. Luckily for me, the Meat Balls came in good! These babies come smothered in a yummy Italian sauce beside a fluffy baked potato with a sour-cream and crispy bacon hat. Delish!

Don’t expect the world of options here. The menu is small, simple but utterly perfected. Credit to Chef Poupee for her food, welcoming smile and in particular, sensational online marketing.
