Christmas in July Wine Dinner

Merchants is collaborating with Blue Pyrenees Estate, Pyrenees, Victoria, to
host a Christmas in July dinner on 24 July.

Christmas is celebrated twice in Australia as winter falls during July in the Southern Hemisphere!
We all know Aussies like to party, so to honour this tradition (and give us a great reason to pop open
a Sparkling Shiraz!) Merchants is hosting its inaugural Christmas in July festive wine dinner paired
with Blue Pyrenees award-winning wines.

Christmas feast highlights – roasted turkey breast served with blueberry shiraz compote, salmon en
croûte with caper dill cream sauce and roast beef with green peppercorn beef jus served with
roasted rosemary baby potatoes. Topping off the feast will be a Christmas plum pudding carefully
hand-carried from Australia to Merchants by the winemaker Andrew Koerner.

Blue Pyrenees Estate was established in the 60’s by Chateau Remy and much of the French
winemaking tradition remains. Blue Pyrenees will introduce six wines during the dinner – Luna,
Sparkling Shiraz, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir Rosé, Reserve Shiraz and Estate Red Blend. Their
wines have won many awards including the Sparkling Shiraz – rated 94 points by Halliday and
winner of the coveted Blue Gold award at the Sydney International Wine Show.
