Convergence

Asia Art Collective proudly presents Convergence, a showcase of works by six outstanding artists – Fan Chang Tien, Lim Leong Seng, Liu Guo, Fan Shao Hua, Gui Zhao Hai and Aaron Gan. Convergence is about the meeting of tradition and innovation, the past and the present, the canonical and the modern. These artists have blazed new trails in invigorating the language of their traditions, and carving a niche for themselves among their contemporaries.

This exhibition features works by: Fan Chang Tien, a literati painter who invigorated the practice of Chinese ink painting in Singapore; Lim Leong Seng, a sculptor who recreates scenes of Nanyang life in his bronze sculptures; Liu Guo, an acclaimed Chinese landscape artist who is renowned for his large-scale ethereal landscape paintings; Fan Shao Hua, a Chinese-Singaporean artist most known for his beautiful fusion of East-West technique in his abstract Lotus ink series; Gui Zhao Hai, a contemporary ink prodigy with a bold and new interpretation of Chinese landscape painting; and Aaron Gan, a young watercolourist who has chosen to mark out his own path in the landscape of Singaporean art.

Convergence runs from 10am-10pm daily, from 3 May – 11 May 2014, at the ION Art Gallery, level 4 ION Orchard.
