DEUS sunday sessions LIVE music by PAPAYAFIL

For this coming Sunday, join us with PAPAYAFIL, our new artist of the week is a band that took a chaotic road, blending together a multitude of musical background to give birth to a unique style, rocking between funk, blues, world music and alternative rock.

“Papayafil” name has been given to them by the front man of Cozy Republic “Mr. Udjie Bastian”, the idea was that the papaya fruit is “easy to diggest”, and hope that the musical project would be easy to listen. Papaya is also the symbol of fruits from tropical countries, a flavor that can be heard in their music.
They hit Jakarta”s underground scene while preparing songs material to do some recording. They even collaborated with senior musician friends such as Anda Perdana (ex Bunga), Cozy Bastian (from Cozy Republic), Hamid Alatas from Jakarta Blues, Fido Saxophone, Gian Sitar, Johnny T A Famous, and Yogi, Defris”s brother which is came from original descendants of in india on tabla, which performed in JavaJazz 2010 with the project named “Papayafil and The Beer Brothers” .
The personality of the band was born mixing up each members of the band”s influences, including reggae, folk, blues, funk, soul, rock, and some spice of traditional and world music, trying to write new fresh and honest music. Then in 2010 Ricky decided to leave and was replaced by Enti Widodo (former bassist of Purgatory a Heavy Metal Industrial Rock Band and additional bass for Gugun and The Blues Shelter), with new energy Papayafil mixing up again new songs to record, and still in independent way style of music itself, try to fill the blank with honest music

and keep playing …
