Due to besetting problems faced in the construction of the then Erawan Hotel, the Erawan Shrine was erected as an auspicious solution because many superstitious workers refused to work. A tribute to the four-faced Brahma God, Than Tao Mahaprom, the shrine is now one of Thailand’s most popular tourist sites, where visitors still flock over to pay respect, or to have their wishes granted.
