Pagoda Odyssey 1915: From Shanghai to San Francisco reunites a set of 84 hand-carved model pagodas for the first time in over a century. Originally made in Shanghai, they travelled thousands of miles away to San Francisco for the Panama-Pacific International Exposition of 1915 – a massive world’s fair that attracted over 18 million visitors during its 288-day run.
Exquisitely detailed, the models are based on real structures, and embody the diversity of iconic pagodas from different regions and historical periods. For many visitors to the exposition, they offered a first, tantalising glimpse of China’s rich architectural heritage. Together with related works, they paint a vivid picture of cosmopolitan Shanghai and San Francisco at the turn of the twentieth century.
Pagoda Odyssey will be complemented by Towers of Faith, a photography display of religious landmarks in Singapore, and Journey into the Pagoda, a virtual reality fantasy experience. The exhibition will also be accompanied by a series of public programmes, including weekend festivals, curator-led tours, and talks.

In this virtual one-hour talk, we will reflect on the past year and prepare ourselves mentally and emotionally for the year ahead. Learn how to reset your goals, recharge your energy, and enter the new year with intention and focus. We’ll discuss how to overcome challenges and create a plan for growth, wellness, and success. By the end of this session, you’ll have actionable strategies for starting the new year with a refreshed mindset and a renewed sense of purpose.
I’m offering these lunchtime talks for free because I’ve seen the struggles of individuals, especially clients who have difficulty attending evening events due to family, work, and other commitments. I believe in making personal and professional growth accessible to everyone, regardless of their busy schedules. These lunchtime sessions are my way of giving back to the community. I’m also seeking sponsors who share these values and are committed to positively impacting people’s lives.

Games are among humanity’s oldest shared experiences – a source of joy, challenge, and connection for thousands of years. In Asia, they have developed in remarkably diverse ways, from the lively, fast-paced rhythms of mahjong and congkak to the contemplative strategy of go and chess. They have entertained and educated, reflected power and status, and acted as metaphors for life.
This exhibition explores the rich history of Asian games and the role they have played in shaping culture, identity, and community. Some travelled widely, taking on new forms and meanings across borders. Others became tools for mental training or expressions of artistic ideals. Even today, they remain at the frontier of innovation – as seen in the rise of artificial intelligence.
Many of the games on display are also works of extraordinary beauty and craftsmanship. As you explore the exhibition, we invite you to discover how the act of play continues to inspire, evolve, and connect people across time and place.
Let’s Play! incorporates playable interactives, outdoor installations, collaborations with schools and local game associations, and a diverse line-up of programmes and talks.

Singapore Art Museum (SAM) presents its latest exhibition The Living Room, as part of the final chapter of Collection Project: Communicating, Convening, Commoning—a long-term collaboration between SAM, Seoul Museum of Art (SeMA), and Queensland Art Gallery | Gallery of Modern Art (QAGOMA). Housed at SAM’s refreshed collection gallery, the exhibition brings together performance-based works from the collections of all three institutions to explore how performances – fleeting by nature – can be remembered, reactivated, and carried forward through different forms of engagement. At its heart is a central question: What happens to a performance when it ends? Where does its liveness go, and how might we make sense of what remains?
Featuring works by renowned local and international artists such as Ezzam Rahman, Chuyia Chia, Kim Garam, Brian Fuata and others, The Living Room presents a breadth of practices spanning live performances, video, installation, performance traces, re-enactments, and artist-led activations. Taking inspiration from the living room as a space for gathering and presence, the exhibition invites visitors into an evolving environment that is brought to life through activation, conversation, and exchange. By bringing together works grounded in lived experience, The Living Room opens new ways of understanding how performance lives on through objects, memory, interaction, and shared encounters.
The Living Room is showcased alongside Talking Objects at SAM’s collection gallery. Together, they create a reflective space where personal and collective experiences converge, offering insights into individual narratives and broader social and cultural conditions.

Singapore Art Museum (SAM) presents Talking Objects, its latest exhibition at the dedicated collection gallery. Drawn from the museum’s collection, the exhibition explores how everyday objects – commonplace items, familiar scenes and everyday representations — become vessels of memory, meaning, and emotion when seen through the lens of artists and their practices. Beyond materiality, Talking Objects considers how even the most everyday forms can become instruments of expression. In the hands of artists, the ordinary takes on new significance, inviting us to look again at the world around us.
Featuring works by widely recognised artists from across Asia, including Alwin Reamillo, Suzann Victor, and Christine Ay Tjoe, Talking Objects showcases a diversity of artistic voices and practices, while offering insights into SAM’s ongoing research into the material and conceptual languages of contemporary art in the region. These artworks resonate with shared human experiences while remaining grounded in the particularities of place and personal history. The exhibition invites visitors to slow down, reflect, and rediscover the quiet power of objects in shaping how we see and understand the world.
Talking Objects is housed alongside The Living Room in SAM’s collection gallery.Together, they create a reflective space where personal and collective experiences converge, offering insights into individual narratives and broader social and cultural conditions.

Event Details
With its dazzling feathers and spectacular tail, the peacock has long symbolised beauty, power, and divinity across Asia. For centuries, its striking form has captivated artists and devotees alike, inspiring works that range from sacred images to everyday adornment.
The peacock motif travelled between cultures. Peranakan art, shaped by the convergence of multiple influences, is the starting point for this journey. Treasures from the National Collection and important lenders explore the bird’s presence in a broad range of artistic disciplines. Each object invites visitors to consider how a motif moved between regions and contexts, revealing the networks that connect peoples and how artistic traditions evolve through exchange.
The exhibition presents these connections through colourful displays, interactive stations, and lively programmes. A new work by artist Ernest Goh explores the peacock in the context of its symbolism, cultural heritage, and ecology.

Embark on a meditative experience at Temple, a new participatory artwork by Vietnamese-American artist Tuan Andrew Nguyen. Commissioned by National Gallery Singapore for its Ng Teng Fong Roof Garden Commission series and presented as part of Singapore Biennale 2025: pure intention, Temple invites visitors to reflect on history and contemplate the impact of war through a multisensorial experience that blends kinetic motion and sound – underscoring the Gallery’s mission to connect the art of Singapore and Southeast Asia to the world and foster critical dialogue on global issues through art.
Featuring bells and mobiles crafted from recovered and defused unexploded ordnance (UXO) from the Vietnam War, visitors are encouraged to strike the defused shells, gongs, and chimes, creating a meditative soundscape. Through this transformation of weapons of war into instruments of peace, Nguyen inspires ideas of karmic balance, reincarnation, and the memories embedded within materials, offering a powerful lens for healing and reconciliation.
Temple is the eighth edition of the Ng Teng Fong Roof Garden Commission.

A heating planet is the hot body no one ever wanted. But as our climate has changed, the way we dress has not. HOT BODIES is an investigation into the innovative ways apparel and wearables can help us radically rethink how we dress, feel, and be “hot” in the 21st century.
Presented from the lens of a long-time global expert in heat and humidity — Singapore, the world’s 3rd most densely populated country, which sits just 1°N of the Equator — HOT BODIES spans a range of practical responses to the most burning question of our time: with a future of rising heat on the horizon, how will humanity cope?
The Exhibition showcases creative solutions from artists, designers, and studios from around the world, coming together in answer to a global problem. The Emporium explores take-home habits, behaviours, and other modifications that can be applied today. The Workshop dives into ideas and possibilities for making our planet’s hotter future a brighter one, too.

Event Details
“Moments of Island Discovery – A Photographic Expedition to Singapore’s Islands” is Christine’s seventh major solo photography exhibition in Singapore, and it is the fifth exhibition of the “My Singapore” series.
Christine’s earlier exhibitions focused on her passion for travel, nature, and landscape photography. The photographs for the exhibitions during and after the pandemic are all taken in Singapore, in the neighborhood of Christine’s home and in the parks, gardens and nature reserves, and in the different areas of Singapore.
When we think of Singapore, we usually picture a single island. Yet the island-state comprises more than sixty additional islands, scattered around the main one. While a number of these are artificial, the majority are natural, varying in size from little more than a cluster of rocks to sizeable islands with their own distinctive character.
Not all these islands can be visited—some are for example closed off for military purposes—yet each contributes to Singapore’s unique maritime identity. The list of islands is longer and more diverse than most would expect and exploring them proved both rewarding and challenging. Preparing for this exhibition involved numerous boat trips under the tropical sun, enduring sunburn, rain, and an extended trek through the wetlands of Sungei Buloh.
For this photography exhibition, the islands are grouped into three categories: the Southern and Southwestern Islands, the Northern Islands, and the Artificial Islands. Together, they offer a different perspective on Singapore—one that reaches beyond the familiar urban skyline and reconnects with its maritime roots.

Opera Gallery Singapore is pleased to present ‘Inner Horizons’, an exhibition of new works by Paris-based artist Feng Xiao-Min. Expanding on his ongoing visual exploration of light and landscape,‘Inner Horizons’ invites viewers on a contemplative journey where horizons dissolve, opening pathways between the real and the imagined.
In this new body of work, Feng’s artistic language continues to merge Eastern philosophy with Western abstraction. Like the legendary Qing Dynasty painter
Shitao (1642–1707), Feng approaches painting and calligraphy as “two branches
from the same root.” Embodying a balance between tradition and modernity,
Feng draws upon a wide spectrum of influences, from Chu Teh-Chun to J.M.W.
Turner to Zao Wou-Ki.

Whitestone Gallery Singapore is pleased to announce between realms, a duo solo exhibition featuring two female artists Jiang Miao and Deborah McKellar from 8th November to 28th December 2025. The exhibition invites you to step into layered worlds where the tangible and the transcendental meet and embark on this unique journey of the soul, to step away from reality and immerse yourself in the spiritual realm with us.
between realms explores how spirituality and the physical presence can be inspired, intertwined, and expressed through visual art. The exhibition will explore how the intangible—our subconscious, emotions, beliefs, and natural energies—be transformed into visible form and suggest the possibilities of the material world becoming a medium for spiritual reflection and enlightenment.
Chinese artist Jiang Miao is renowned for her meditative artistic practice rooted in Taoist and Zen philosophy, capturing the unseen currents of spirituality through layers of colour and form, while Singapore-based South African artist Deborah McKellar’s works seamlessly blend traditional Asian aesthetics with refined printmaking techniques, rooting the exhibition in physical world. Together, their works weave a dialogue between body and spirit, offering the visitors an immersive experience of energy, depth, and mindfulness.
We believe this exhibition offers a fresh perspective on connecting with and understanding our inner selves. Guided by the rhythms and scents, it provides a new lens through which to view the world, offering a break from the routines of daily life and evoking a meditative experience through visual art.

And Still brings together two artists whose practices are deeply rooted in searches of selfhood within desire and the intimate. Inhabiting the inner chambers of the camera, their works refuse tidy resolutions. Instead, they beckon us to look upon with care — to sit with moments of ambiguity, and to feel what is missing in what remains.
This exhibition marks the 15th edition of the Kwek Leng Joo Prize of Excellence in Photography Exhibition. It presents the works of NTU School of Art, Design and Media graduates Chuen Kah Jun and Tay Yiling, recipients of the Kwek Leng Joo Prize.
Run Pluto Run (Chuen Kah Jun, 2025)
Run Pluto Run explores queer desire as a site of both connection and fragmentation. Informed by Lacanian thought, it examines how desire destabilizes the self, revealing a persistent sense of lack and a dissonance between internal experience and external recognition. Queer desire is not only driven by longing, but also shaped by absence, misrecognition, and the social structures that render it invisible or illegible.
Rather than seeking resolution, the work embraces desire as a shifting state: fluid, elusive, and often dislocated. Through surreal and symbolic imagery, it traces how desire complicates identity, blurring the boundaries between estrangement, recognition, and transformation.
With a hand that trembles, with a human trembling (Tay Yiling, 2025)
With a hand that trembles, with a human trembling looks at gestures in the everyday that hold glimpses of the human. Images take their departure point from poetry, recognising the form as an embodiment of seeing; the very doing of poetry itself as a reminder of living. Images locate meaning in banal matter that resist and respond to our gazes in kind — at moments in tender curiosity, oftentimes in humanlike vulnerability.
At its core, this work asks: could art possibly be viewed upon as the ordinary act of living? Through images that extend as hesitations and reminders, an artist searches for impressions of an existence within folds of the lonely, quiet, and delicate.

About the artists
Chuen Kah Jun (b. 1999) is a photographer and visual artist specializing in staged photography and digital image post-production. He uses photography as a medium to tackle the nuances of identity, gender and sexuality, exploring these themes by adopting visual language from both surrealistic and fashion influences.
Tay Yiling (b. 2000) is a visual artist and writer. Working across photography, performance and poetry, her practice examines intimacy, vulnerability, and humanness. She uses image-making and language to investigate interiority, the confessional, and our encounters with the material everyday.

Cuturi Gallery is pleased to present Untaped, a new solo exhibition by German painter Jochen Mühlenbrink (b. 1980). Bringing together works developed during his 2025 residency with the gallery, the exhibition marks his return to Singapore following his earlier presentation with the gallery, AIR. In Untaped, Mühlenbrink deepens his ongoing inquiry into illusion, perception, and painterly deception, expanding on his tape series while drawing continued resonance from the atmospheric ambiguity of his Window Paintings.
Across the exhibition, strips of tape, torn, curling at the ends, become the real focus. Tape layered over fogged windows both conceals and transforms what lies beneath, inviting the viewer into a playful investigation. The works are highly technical yet poetic, conceptual, and rooted in the materiality of lived experience. Mühlenbrink’s practice focuses on that brief shift in perception: when what seems familiar reveals itself differently.
Untaped by Jochen Mühlenbrink will be on view at Cuturi Gallery, Singapore, 61 Aliwal Street, Singapore 199937 from 29 November 2025 to 3 January 2026.
