Expect All Things Sinfully Delectable at Singapore Restaurant Week October 2015

With a theme like ‘Sinfully Delectable’, it’s hard to not be seduced by Restaurant Week’s 11th edition this October. From 24 October to 1 November 2015, 100 of Singapore’s top dining establishments will be offering three course set lunches and dinners at #25++ and $35++ respectively (a supplement of $15++ for lunch and $20++ for dinner will be charged at Dining City Star awarded restaurants).

Fresh from our sneak preview, we can’t help but think that the DiningCity folks – the organisation behind Restaurant Week – have a great line up this time around. The Bamboo Pith Soup with Chawanmushi demonstrates the cross-culturalism of Shisen Hanten, Mandarin Orchard Hotel’s Szechuan restaurant helmed by a Japanese chef. Xperience at Sofitel So Singapore, on the other hand, features a pretty gold-flaked Truffle Bao with Short Rib Stuffing.

Violet Herbs

For main courses, we enjoyed Violet Herbs’ roasted Red Snapper with summer mushrooms and crustacean bisque. Encrusted with almonds that added a nice texture to every mouthful, the dish went from good to great because of the creamy, flavourful bisque.

When it comes to dessert, nothing comes as close to being sinful than durian. Chef Susanto at The Royal Mail is presenting Durian Croquembouche – basically decadent durian custard choux topped with spun sugar – for dessert. Kuvo‘s unspeakably rich Rum Cocoa Mousse Bar with chewy rum soaked raisins is another wickedly decadent dessert we’ll gladly savour again.

Other restaurants you can look forward to this Restaurant week include Adrift by David Myers, Punjab Grill by Jiggs Kalra, Casa Tartufo, Salt Grill & Sky Bar, Wooloomooloo Steakhouse, and Gunther’s Modern French Dining.

Salt Grill & Sky Bar

Food aside, though, Restaurant Week has set a target of raising $100, 000 for The Food Bank Singapore, a registered charity that collects surplus food to be redistributed to people in need and charitable organisations. Called ‘Two Bucks For A Truck’, the project aims to raise funds for a truck purchase and converting it into a mobile food pantry. Participating restaurants will be donating up to $2 per booking and the progress of the fund-raising will be trackable via the TRIKKLE-Funding platform by CrozzBorderz!

Reservations can be made online here from 18 September 2015 for American Express Card members, 24 September for Audi members, 25 September for DiningCity subscribers, and from 28 September 2015 for the public.
