At the nexus of story telling and athleticsm, Bryan Smith came to filmmaking as an experienced kayaker protesting a controversial hydroelectric project that threatened his local run on the Ashlu River in British Columbia. An online version of his first documentary went viral and with it the start of a journey that took him from a virtual unknown to one of the top adventure film makers in the world.
Paddling steep rivers in India, Peru, and Russia, Smith shares stunning images and video photography, with innovative technical solutions to capture dizzying images-inevitably putting himself and his team at risk to get the shot.
Braving raging whitewater in British Columbian rivers; sharing too little space with grizzlies in Russia’s Kamchatka Peninsula (where legions of mosquitos are the other voracious predators to fear); and fulfilling the eternal dream of human flight are some of the extreme encounters shared with audiences.
A deeply creative, conservation-minded, and extraordinarily passionate storyteller, who very consciously uses his filmmaking craft to elevate important stories, Extreme Adventure on the Edge will invigorate and inspire us to probe our limitations, and entertain us in new ways.
An unmissable event for adventurers of all ages, experience life on the edge – on assignment with National Geographic.
