Social distancing is the order of the day, and for many of us, that means getting food deliveries rather than dining out. If those char kway teow or Hokkien mee cravings have been hitting you hard, though, here’s the good news: you might soon be able to get them freshly sizzled on your doorstep.
Food delivery giant foodpanda Singapore is set to expand its partnership with hawker food startup WhyQ, joining forces to bring Singaporeans a more extensive inventory of hawker grub. Right now, you’ll already find more than 300 hawker stalls live on foodpanda. By the end of this year, foodpanda aims to further onboard a whopping 80 hawker centres across the island, representing more than a thousand hawker stalls.
Hawker spots that you can soon hit up in-app include beloved icons like Amoy Street Food Centre, Maxwell Food Centre, and Old Airport Road Food Centre, along with neighbourhood eating houses such as Boon Lay Place Market and Food Village. Since foodpanda’s partnership with WhyQ began in 2019, it’s seen hawker orders shoot up by over 100% – and there’s no doubt that demand will keep rising in the next few months as we all hunker down at home. We’re certainly thankful for the delivery and hawker heroes keeping our bellies happy. Stay safe!
