Leading stalwart local bilingual theatre company Toy Factory Productions is proud to unveil its highlight performance for 2014, Innamorati; a heart-warming original Mandarin musical that hopes to transcend generations. Drawing inspiration from a novel mix of current and past material, Innamorati presents an honest and touching storyline crafted by a budding first-time playwright and is brought to life by a refreshing and talented ensemble of rising young stars; some of whom will make their stage debut, through familiar popular hit songs of acclaimed singer and songwriter Eric Moo.
Directed by the inimitable Goh Boon Teck, Chief Artistic Director of Toy Factory Productions, Innamorati showcases for the first time in a musical, 12 popular hits from established award- winning singer and songwriter Eric Moo. More notably, his brother Allan Moo, also an accomplished music producer, singer and actor, helms the production as musical director, arranger and vocal coach.
Innamorati is inspired by the personal stories of passion of seven dynamic singers in the 21st century. Delving into poignant moments of their bittersweet journeys in pursuit of love and music, Innamorati takes audience through an insightful tale that casts light on the characters’ sources of inspiration, emotional struggles and unravels the truths about friendship and love.
For the first time, evocative golden classics such as ‘You Are My Only’, ‘Too Silly’ and ‘We are Best Friends’, originally sung by Eric Moo, have been delicately woven into the storyline and will definitely stir and tug at the audience’s heartstrings,. Through the seven performers’ heartfelt renditions of these evergreen hits that have been masterfully re-arranged by Allan Moo, Director Goh Boon Teck hopes to acquaint the younger audience with these evergreen hits which still resonate with their touching lyrics and beautiful melodies, rekindle memories of those familiar with these tunes and ultimately, connect generations through this trailblazing musical.
