In Singapore, we have the great fortune of experiencing some awesome festivals, whether it be music, the arts, and of course food and beverage.
One that made its debut two years ago is the superb Whisky Live Singapore.
I personally had the pleasure of attending last year’s event held at the Fullerton Bay Hotel. So when the guys over at Fine Spirits @ La Maison du Whisky informed me that this year’s edition was in full planning stages and the date was set…I jumped on the opportunity to gather as much information as possible to share on City Nomads.
So, let’s break it down. Whisky Live Singapore is basically a one night festival this 21st May. Master distillers and brand ambassadors fly in from all over the Whisky world. We are looking at well over 100 (yes 100!!!) whiskies available for sampling with the tastings being conducted by those ambassadors and distillers, as well as another 20+ other spirits such as various Vodkas, Rums, Gins etc. And that’s the just the tip of the iceberg.
There’s masterclasses for those who want to really learn in details about the liquid gold. Note that spaces do fill up fast and are on a first come first served basis so register early at the class you want to join.
A whisky and cheese pairing is also making its debut this year. Included in the ticket is one pairing sample, or alternatively buy a flight of cheeses at the event to pair with the whiskies.
How about chocolate? If you were at last year’s festival, you will already know what I’m talking about. This year, the St Regis own pastry chef Kit Wong will be featuring chocolates and pastries infused with whiskies and other sweet delights.
Ok, at this point, I must make a little shout out for City Nomads. As this year’s official media partner, we have the pleasure of leading this year’s Connoisseur’s Taste Test Challenge. In a nutshell, we have 5 whiskies from 5 different countries (Scotland, Japan, USA, India and Australia) to taste blind. If you can guess them all correctly, you stand a chance to win a set of ALL of 5 bottles!
Finally, for those of you who like the experimental cocktails, head to the ‘Monkey Bar’ where you can sample cocktails made by leading local mixologists.
So, tempted?
