Born in Singapore with a sizeable chunk of his impressionable years spent nursing a premature quarter life crisis in the dingy back alleys of Jakarta, it was only a matter of time before JEHM found techno. Or techno found JEHM.
Since then, he has played at Headquarters and CATO, and alongside Shifted too. In his free time, he enjoys movies, long walks at night, and deep conversations about life and the universe. In this edition of City Nomads Radio, we chat with JEHM about his early musical influences, his favourite hangs in Singapore, and his specially curated mixtape for City Nomads.
Hi Jehm! When did you start DJing – and what or who were your early passions and influences?
I started DJing in the beginning of 2012. I was always hanging out at my friend’s place where there was a DJ setup. I would mess around with it a lot and eventually, I saved up enough to get my own.
What have you been listening so far this year?
Other than Techno, I’ve been listening to a lot of Rap/Hiphop music.
What’s one thing people don’t know about you?
That I DJ? Or that I actually play other genres, not only techno?
Where is the best night out in Singapore right now?
Personally, it would be Headquarters by the Council and District nights at CATO.

For you, is the dancefloor a lonely place where you lose yourself in music or a communal place where you feel connected to everyone?
The former.
