Just Opened #16: Singapore’s newest restaurants and bars

In this Just Opened we have latest hip spot L’Aiglon seducing us with its very boudoir-esque vibes, getting intimate at A.L.T, having a little French moment at Concetto- ooh la la! and on top of that, we’re feeling rather tarty (tee hee!) at Tarte Blanc. Thankfully after all that sauciness, we’re brought back down to earth with a good ol’ pint and curry!

L’Aiglon

New bar on the block L’Aiglon describes itself as a sanctum of nomadic decadence and gentlemanly charm – which means as Nomads we ought to feel right at home! Situated on Neil Road, L’Aiglon is the latest offering in Singapore’s burgeoning cocktail scene thanks to mixologist Louis Tan, who certainly knows his stuff and actually won Diageo Reserve World Class’ Singapore Edition with his ‘The Wolf’s Peach Illusion’, created from Tanqueray No. TEN, cherry tomatoes, lychee liquor, lemon juice, basil syrup and pineapple…yums! As well as expertly mixed cocktails you can expect delicious bar bites and all of this in a seductive setting of soft red lighting and masculine leather. Meow!

Look out for our review coming soon!

L’Aiglon is located at 69 Neil Road, Singapore 088899. Opening hours are Monday – Saturday: 5pm – 1am. For more information, check out their Facebook page here.

Pints & Curries

We can’t help thinking that this concept is effectively the equivalent of a man cave! Pint & Curries is a pub/sportsbar offering curries, Tandoori items, and draft and craft beers and man-time! This latest project from the Bar Bar Black Sheep folks, well, it’s a no brainer really isn’t it! Set in the bustling Clarke Quay, it looks guaranteed to be a popular hangout. Serving up delectable curries predominately of the Thai and North Indian variety such as Rogan Josh, Palak Paneer, Aloo Gobi, Butter Chicken, Mutton Vindaloo, and a range of tandoori items- Chicken Tikka Masala, Tandoori Chicken, Fish Tikka as well as a selection of delicious Naans and Biryanis to complement beers including Brewdog Punk IPA, Little Creatures Pale Ale, Peroni, or Rekorderlig Cider.

Pint & Curries is located at 3D River Valley Road, #01-14, Singapore 179023. Opening hours are Monday: 5pm – 2am. Wednesday – Thursday: 5pm – 2am. Friday – Saturday: 6pm – 5am. Sunday: 5pm – 2am. For more information check out their Facebook page here.

A.L.T

If you suffer from vertigo, or perhaps want a cheeky pitstop before ascending up to the lofty heights of 1-Altitude, you’ll be glad to hear that A.L.T café.bar is a new edition at the ground level of 1-Altitude. Serving up a selection of coffees, beers, cocktails, wine, champagne, tacos and gourmet nibbles, this is an intimate little spot with a 15 person standing capacity but what it lacks in space horizontally it makes up for vertically with a triangular glass dome that soars up to the sky.

A.L.T is located at One Raffles Pl, Singapore 048616. Opening hours are Monday – Friday: 8am – 10pm.

Concetto

The duo behind Saveur at Purvis Street and Far East Plaza bring us Concetto – an Italian dining concept at The Cathay – offering well-crafted and skilfully prepared Italian dishes akin to a fine dining restaurant, but at prices that will not break the bank. The setting for your yummy French fare is also quite different to their usual aesthetic, with expansive windows, exposed concrete and simple furnishings, creating a light, airy, casual setting. Reports are varied, it seems to have the marmite effect for now with some loving it and some hating it…however having only been open 2 months, we say these may just be teething problems, and with Dylan Ong and Joshua Khoo you tend to be in safe hands.

Concetto is located at  #01-11/12 The Cathay, 2 Handy Road, Singapore 229233.  Opening hours are Monday – Sunday: 11.30am – 9.30pm. For more information check out their Facebook page here.

Tart Blanc

With cupcake shops popping up EVERYWHERE, Tart Blanc is bucking the trend, or perhaps starting their very own…tart anyone? (yes please!). This artisan pastry cafe in Millennia Walk is constantly creating new and innovative flavour profiles so their flavours are inventive and a little different. Sharing their passion for all things sweet, their tarts are not only tasty but also so so pretty! Flavours like Rum & Eve Tart… a rum and raisin concoction with a pineapple base, Pumpkin crack tart… a brown sugar Pecan base top with creamy and smooth pumpkin pate and Raspberry Praline, have our mouths watering! With prices around $7, we have heard a few grumbles about that and yes, it’s not cheap but as each one is practically art work, we say, worth the extra dollars.

Tarte Blanc is located at 9 Raffles Boulevard #01-102, Singapore 039596. Opening hours are Monday – Sunday: 10am – 10pm. For more information, check out their Facebook page here.
