Seafood Galore at Kopi Tiam

Seafood lovers, ‘tis the season to indulge in your favourite food group! Kopi Tiam – Swissôtel The Stamford’s luxe version of the local-style coffee shop we know and love – are toting in an ocean-fresh bounty for your gastronomical pleasure. For a limited time (now till 6 June 2016), diners can expect seafood prepared in a medley of cuisine styles that accentuates the natural sweetness and succulence of the main ingredient – here’s what you can expect:

Prawns

Those looking for something more wholesome won’t go wrong with the Chinese Herbal Prawns ($24). Marinated and infused with Chinese wine and herbs, this dish is flavourful and nourishing at the same time.

Marble Goby

Also known as Soon Hock ($10 per 100g), the folks at Kopi Tiam are going down the classic Cantonese route. Deep fried to perfection and drizzled with a fragrant, superior sauce, each bite take you to textural heaven when the crisp exterior gives way to smooth, delicate flesh.

Shellfish

Venus Clams

Love spicy food? Your cravings will be more than satisfied with the Venus Clams ($18). Stir-fried with Thai basil leaves, chili, and garlic, just the sound of it is enough to make our mouths water. Another dish that packs a spicy punch is the Chili Mussels ($24) – think fresh, plump Australian blue mussels complemented with a rich and robust chili sauce. Alternatively, for something that soothes the soul (and to dial down on the heat), opt for the Brown Clams ($18) cooked in superior stock, Chinese wine, and ginger.

Black Grouper

The most piquant plate on amidst this seafood galore is definitely the steamed Black Grouper ($9 per 100g) topped with an aromatic chili and fermented bean (a staple ingredient in East and Southeast Asian cuisine) sauce. This is one dish that’s perfect with a steaming bowl of white rice.

All the dishes on offer are meant to be shared, so if you have family members and friends you haven’t caught up with in awhile, take them down to Kopi Tiam for a deliciously communal seafood meal!
