More Than Steak Frites: L’Entrecôte The French Brasserie

L’Entrecôte is probably the most successful of concepts flying the Déliciae Hospitality Management banner. Following the success of the flagship outlet in Duxton Hill and another in Quayside Isle, L’Entrecôte The French Brasserie in Suntec City is the brand’s third outlet.

A sprawling 130-seater bistro located next to the Fountain of Wealth, the space is outfitted in the usual L’Entrecôte style of dark wooden furniture and red tablecloths. Even though it’s been a year since the restaurant has been open, they’ve recently installed a new set lunch menu for the folks that work in the vicinity of the mall.

L’Entrecôte’s signature Steak & Fries, which features the season’s best steak where quality of the cut takes priority over the origin, is available at $20.90++ (usually $32.90) during lunchtime. Inclusive of a walnut green salad and a soft drink, the steak arrived pre-sliced, well grilled, and surprisingly tender. It comes with a dollop of golden ‘secret’ sauce, which might be superfluous if you don’t like buttery rich sauces on your beef.

Those looking for something lighter than steak frites will find the The French Bowl Set Lunch ($14.90++, a soup of the day or garden salad, a French Bowl of choice, and a soft drink) a refreshing change. With a whopping 10 different bowls available, I tried Le Bar ($12.90 a la carte), a pan-fried sea bass (with the skin nice and crispy) on a bed of perfectly stewed ratatouille and rice. Unfortunately, I didn’t have the capacity try the others like the Le Ragout d’Agneau (lamb stew on rice) and the Le Poulet (roasted chicken leg, mash potato, and basil).

Alternatively, if you just want a good, tasty salad, the Salade de Chèvre Chaud ($15++) is quite sublime.

Le Bar

With six desserts on the menu, those with a sweet tooth will definitely find something that’ll suit their tastes. That afternoon, I was feeling the Mousse au Chocolat ($10), a dark, smooth, and oh-so-creamy chocolate sweetness that just melts in your mouth. The story of origin? One of L’Entrecôte’s chefs made this for dessert at a Deliciae staff event, and it was so good that they put it on the menu – ‘nuff said.

L’Entrecôte The French Brasserie is located at #B1-128 Tower 5, Suntec City, 5 Temasek Boulevard, Singapore 038985, p. 6690 7569.
