Let’s Start with Love is a new collection of jazz standards and originals with fresh duet arrangements to start off the new year. In this chapter of their life together, Polkadot + Moonbeam have carefully selected tunes most precious to them, and have lovingly woven and stitched their unique vocal harmony and ukulele/acoustic bass arrangements.
In this performance, Polkadot + Moonbeam will feature Daniel Wong, one of Singapore’s most sought-after jazz trumpet players.
Polkadot + Moonbeam
Polkadot + Moonbeam is a pocket-sized jazz duo that brings a romantic twist to the unassuming ukulele, adding a swinging bass, two voices in sweet harmony and the occasional melodica. Named after Frank Sinatra’s first hit song with the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra in 1940, Polkadot + Moonbeam performs a repertoire of jazz and evergreen classics, from luscious ballads to lively swing numbers and latin grooves.
Polkadot + Moonbeam first found harmony in their music and lives in the spring of 2010 in Sydney, Australia. Since then they have performed at various venues in Australia, Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia presenting their original compositions as well as their own interpretations of jazz/latin standards and contemporary classics, performed on vocals, pianica, ukulele and bass.
Recently, Polkadot + Moonbeam have been collaborating with Singapore’s top jazz lead instrumental soloists, adding another dimension to their sound.
Daniel Wong
Singaporean trumpeter Daniel Wong has recorded with many local talents, including Jeremy Monteiro, in settings that range from the Tattler Gala Dinner, ZOUKout, Esplanade’s Mosaic Music Festival & CHIJazz to Loysel’s Toy & Artistry Cafe.
