Liao Zhai Rocks! – A Chinese Rock Musical

Watch sparks fly as the stellar new cast (Jonna Dong as the vixen fox Ying Ning with veteran Taiwanese actor Inred Liang co-leading as scholar Sang Xiao) takes on the Drama Centre Theatre in this reinterpretation of the Chinese classical text The Strange Tales of Liao Zhai (a hallmark of Chinese ghost stories), fusing modern rock music with tradition to cut across languages and cultures.

While the show will be performed in Mandarin, they’ll be English subtitles available, so don’t fret about not understanding the show. Produced by creative talents behind If There’re Seasons… and Lao Jiu: The Musical, the second installment of Liao Zhai Rocks! is fresher and more dynamic, giving modern audiences a chance to better experience the period musical. This edition also also features a tighter storyline and updated music by founders of Funkie Monkies Productions, Xiaohan and Eric Ng.

What’s the story about? In a nutshell, forbidden love transcends life and death through the energy and expression of rock music, asking the big question: Can once in a lifetime happen twice?

Liao Zhai Rocks! – A Chinese Rock Musical is running from 31 March to 17 April 2016 at Drama Centre Theatre. Tickets are priced from $45 and available at SISTIC. For enquiries, please call 6337 2525 or email to amber@practice.org.sg.
