Lit Up is an arts festival that celebrates creative diversity and multi-disciplinary collaborations between art forms. It is a platform for emerging local talent as well as a showcase of some of the region’s arts innovators.
This year’s theme, ‘Walk The Equator’ addresses the equator as a concept rather than an actual boundary. To walk the equator is to cross between time zones and states of knowing, and the festival interprets this through spoken word, music and other art forms – the storms and sunny days; that live inside and outside us.
Into its sixth edition, this year’s festival promises a richly diverse programme of theatre, improvised comedy, spoken word poetry, puppetry, a special performance by a Balinese drama troupe with their rendition of ‘Romeo and Juliet’, a flea market and bands including MONSTER CAT, Fungki Munkees and The Sets.
