Magners International Comedy Fest

Hold on to your socks Singapore and prepare to laugh yourself silly as the Magners International Comedy Festival – Asia’s largest comedy festival – lands on our shores for the second time! Set to feature some of the biggest and brightest local, regional and international talent, this event will showcase 27 comedians across 130 shows at
9 venues spanning over 3 nights.

Laugh away with John Robertson (USA) as he graces Asia with his ‘The Dark Room’ performance, where he introduces an interesting concept of performing in complete darkness! Be sure not to miss the world’s smallest comedian, Imaan Hadchiti (AUS /LBN) who may be small in physique but super-sized in humour. Mr Al Lubel, used to be a lawyer, so you know he has the gift of the gab – be sure to check out his distinct and unparalleled sense of wit. Phil Kay (UK) is a compelling Scottish storyteller, who creatively weaves mirth and mayhem into his adventures. Come and hear all about stories at the show!

Performing exclusively in Singapore, come witness the hilarity of award winning and critically acclaimed female comedian Shazia Mirza (UK), who amuses with her acute and shocking brand of humour. In the lead up, the organisers are searching for the comedy stars of tomorrow with ‘The Big V’ competition to be held in January 2015 across Philippines, Hong Kong and Singapore.

The competition is in honour of the late Vernon Lewis, a Singaporean-based comedian and organiser of last year’s event, who sadly passed away in 2014. Finalists will join the two winners from Philippines and Hong Kong and perform in every city as part of the festival. The grand final will take place on the last day of the fest, and the winner will be given a prime spot to perform at the world’s largest arts festival – The Edinburgh Festival & Festival Fringe in August 2015.

Entrants have a chance to make it big with the winners taking home a prize of a lifetime – an all-inclusive trip to the Edinburgh Comedy Festival (flights, accommodation and a prime venue to perform in). Entry is open to any act (local or foreign national) that meets the competition requirements.
