Throwing Christmas parties at home or at the office has never been easier. With myriad options available in the form of takeaway goodies, anyone can pitch in with a mouthwatering roast or a delicious selection of Christmas desserts. This year, Mandarin Orchard Singapore has put together a dizzying array of sweet and savoury treats for the convenience of your festive get-togethers.
At the heart of any Christmas feast is a magnificent, meaty centerpiece. Our first choice of Mandarin Orchard’s offerings is definitely the flavourful Premium Honey Glazed Gammon Ham ($318, 4.2-4.5kg). The chefs have come up with a homemade honey pineapple sauce to go with it, but we recommend having the roast with a smear of wasabi if you enjoy a spicy kick.
Coming in a close second is the Roasted US Black Angus Beef Rib Eye ($390, 3kg) with a punchy green peppercorn truffle sauce. Order up a side of Festive Seasonal Veggies ($19, 500g) or Roasted New Potatoes ($19, 500g), and whip up a batch of Yorkshire pudding at home, and you’re all set. If you prefer another type of pork, the Oven Roasted Berkshire Pork Rack with Yuzu Himalayan Salt Crust ($230, 3kg) is more than a perfect alternative – we love the accompanying morel mushroom yuzu sauce, which pulls the savoury and zesty flavours together.
Christmas is never complete without a turkey or two and Mandarin Orchard has their Roasted U.S.A Turkey available in two sizes, 6kg ($218) and 8kg ($238). Regardless of which size you order, you can look forward to a tasty chestnut stuffing, giblet sauce, and cranberry sauce with your roasted fowl.
Have pescetarians in the house? A new addition to the festive menu this year, the Baked Norwegian Salmon Fillet with Watercress Crust ($135, 1.5kg) with mustard dill sauce will have you covered. If you’re planning a big party, it won’t hurt to have the crowd-pleasing Assorted Premium Sushi Platter ($138, 50 pieces) too.
Round up the decadence of Christmas with a log cake or two. Our vote goes to the Valrhona Delicious Dulcey Yule Log ($80, 1kg). Everyone loves a chocolate cake, and this one’s made with 100% Valrhona chocolate and French cream – who can say no to that? Go for the newly launched Red Velvet Yule Log ($80, 1 kg) if you fancy something lighter to brighten up the party table.
Complete the dessert buffet with a variety of Christmas related sweets by Mandarin Orchard, like the Christmas Stollen ($38, 500g), Traditonal Christmas Fruit Cake ($75, 1kg), or Christmas Pudding ($28, 400g).
Pssst, you know what they say about early birds! Order between 23 November and 14 December to get a 15% discount when you pay by credit cards (20% if you’re using Citibank or DBS/POSB). From 15 December onwards, the discounts drop to 10% and 15% respectively.
Mandarin Orchard Singapore’s festive goodies are available for ordering at Coffee & Crust (Level 5) and at the Festive Booth on Level 1 from 23 November to 31 December 2016.
