MICHELIN Guide Singapore 2024: 4 New One-Star Awards, Meta Earns Two Stars, and 283 Total Selections

If you’re as excited about culinary delights as we are, then you’d be glad to know the latest MICHELIN Guide Singapore 2024 has been revealed. This year’s edition brings a delectable array of 283 restaurants, including Starred, Bib Gourmand, and Selected establishments, showcasing the best of Singapore’s vibrant and multicultural food scene. Let’s dive in!

A Starry Night in Singapore

This year, four restaurants have been newly awarded one MICHELIN Star, and each brings something extraordinary to the table. Helmed by Chilean chefs Araya and Guerrero, Araya offers a delightful blend of Chilean and Japanese flavours, influenced by the chefs’ stints in Spain and Japan. Expect an eclectic menu that’s both innovative and comforting. Executive chef Masahiko Kawano’s vision shines through in a 10-course menu at Chaleur, which marries French and Japanese ingredients with finesse. The duck consommé, perfected daily, is a testament to his meticulous craftsmanship.

German chef Bjoern Alexander redefines Italian cuisine with bold Asian influences at Matera. With stunning views of Marina Bay Sands, this is a feast for the eyes and the palate. Don’t miss the signature whole red prawn dish! At Pangium, Singaporean chef Malcolm Lee pays homage to his Peranakan roots with a menu that explores Straits cuisine. The serene garden views add to the tranquil dining experience, making it a must-visit.

Meta Earns Two Stars

One of the most exciting updates is the promotion of Meta to two MICHELIN Stars. Chef Sun Kim, originally from Busan, Korea, dazzles with his modern Korean cuisine. Think steamed Jeju abalone paired with gochujang seaweed risotto—mouthwatering, to say the least! The restaurant’s intimate chef’s table setup makes the dining experience even more personal and unique.

Green Stars for Sustainability

The MICHELIN Green Star, recognising sustainability, has been awarded to Fiz this year. Chef-owner Hafizzul Hashim takes inspiration from his Malaysian childhood, creating a set menu that educates diners on Malaysian spices and ingredients. Their commitment to sustainability is evident in their sourcing practices and community engagement.

23 New Establishments Join the MICHELIN Selection

Adding to the excitement, 23 new establishments have joined the MICHELIN Guide Singapore 2024, bringing the total to 151 MICHELIN Selected venues. These additions include popular local spots like Food Street Fried Kway Teow Mee, Guan Kee Fried Carrot Cake, Maxwell Fuzhou Oyster Cake, and Zheng Zhi Wen Ji Pig’s Organ Soup.

Whilst you might also be able to spot the likes of selected establishments like Tambi, a collaboration featuring a fusion of Korean and Indian cuisine, and Path, which blends Asian flavours with French techniques, add even more excitement to the culinary landscape. And for the vegetarians out there, Podi & Poriyal offers delicious South Indian-inspired plant-based dishes.

Bib Gourmand Delights

In addition to the stars, the guide includes 81 Bib Gourmand venues, featuring some of the best affordable dining spots in Singapore. Among the 11 new entrants, two have moved up from the MICHELIN Selected category: Jalan Sultan Prawn Mee, a 70-year-old establishment known for its aromatic dry prawn mee in sambal and rich prawn broth soup, and Ru Ji Kitchen, famous for its handmade fish balls made from yellowtail, offering both soup and dry noodle dishes. Other notable new Bib Gourmand establishments include Chef Kang’s Noodle House, which specialises in noodle soup with wontons and char siu; and Delhi Lahori, celebrated for its fluffy, crispy naans and flavourful tandoor dishes.
