With hotels and Chinese restaurants all over the city presenting a treasure trove as usual, here are our top picks of traditional baked mooncakes and flaky pastry iterations to fruity and boozy snowskin flavours in Singapore.
Hotel Indigo Singapore Katong
Hotel Indigo Singapore Katong’s collection this year features a delectable assortment of freshly baked classics made with low-sugar variations of ingredients. Goodwood Park Hotel Singapore
Here to please with its range of celebratory treats this year, Goodwood Park Hotel brings two new snowskin options, the delicious Ondeh Ondeh (S$52, two pieces) and almost ice-cream like Strawberry (S$48, two pieces), alongside returning favourites like Black Thorn Durian (S$88, two pieces). Grand Hyatt Singapore never disappoints – and this year is no different. When it comes to mooncakes, few do it like Regent Hotel Singapore. This year, they’re taking it up a notch with new creative snowskin mooncakes such as the sugary Roselle & Goji Berries (S$53, four pieces). If you’re still dreaming of your bite from last year, popular flavours such as the Signature Black Sesame Paste snowskin mooncakes and classic baked White Lotus Paste with Double Yolk and Melon Seeds (S$57 for 2 pieces) mooncakes are coming back too. Wan Hao Chinese Restaurant
Wan Hao Chinese Restaurant‘s masterful renditions of the traditional White Lotus Seed Paste (from S$80, four pieces) and luscious Imperial “Long Jin” Tea with Pumpkin Seeds (S$82, four pieces) baked mooncakes are definite crowd pleasers. Cantonese restaurant Yàn is bringing us a choice selection of classics and local favourites this year, complemented with premium tea blends. Known for their handcrafted Teochew pastries, Thye Moh Chan is bringing back a traditional Teochew mooncake collection that includes the best selling Salty Tau Sar with Salted Egg Yolk ($42.80, four pieces) and sweet-savoury Yuan Yang with Salted Egg Yolk (S$50.80, four pieces). The refreshed Mao Shan Wang Durian (S$52.80, four pieces) features premium durian infused in sweet mung bean paste too. Family baking business The Pine Garden’s handmade mooncakes come with new flavours this year inspired by Singaporean popular desserts. Chendol Read Bean Coconut (S$21.50), Pandan Coconut Dodol (S$19.50) and Red Bean Orh-Ni (S$14.80) are encapsulated in baked skin shaped in traditional wooden mould, with a 38 year-old recipe. Their unique selections are the Crispy Skin White Lotus Paste with Nonya Filling (S$23.10) with savoury meat, not forgetting Snow Skin Lotus Paste with Cat Mountain King Durian Pulp Centre (S$25.10) for durian lovers.

Try their White Lotus Paste with Yolk Blend (S$70.80, 8 pieces) for that timeless taste or the Liu Ren (S$80.80, 8 pieces) for some unconventional flavours starring a medley of different nuts and seeds. We liked the Taro with Pumpkin (S$68.80, 8 pieces) for the sweetness of the taro and pumpkin paste.
