Seasonal Tastes

This National Day, head down to Seasonal Tastes for a sumptuous buffet feast that includes tantalising local favourites along with a wide variety of international flavours. Enjoy the freshest seafood and most delectable cuts of meat along with other exciting live stations when you dine on 9 August, with a side of fireworks through the floor to ceiling windows at dinner time. What’s more, sister gastropub Cook & Brew is offering a pint of draught Tiger beer at $5.30++ with every purchase of their Hawker Burger or the Singapore-style Fried Bee Hoon while the Lobby Lounge has come up with a rum-based Chendol Breeze ($15++) for the occasion too.

Once Upon a Ginger Chicken

For something a tad different this festive occasion, head out to Kwee Zeen at Sofitel Sentosa for a theatrical dining experience by Skinned Knee Productions and a three-course menu by Chef Kevin Liew. The three acts span from the 1930s to 2147; beginning with Ginger Chicken and a forbidden love story between a Samsui Woman and a young Tow Kay. Between bites of beef short rib rendang and curry crusted red snapper representing modern Singapore, the Samsui Woman is reminiscing about her glory days as a Chinese immigrant with her grandchild. The finale takes place 99 years from the present alongside a futuristic dessert of 66% Valrhona Chocolate.

The Eve of National Day and National Day Dinner is priced at $65 nett per person. Available 7pm-9pm on 8 August, 5pm-7pm on 9 August.

Folklore

Celebrate Singapore’s cultural diversity at Folklore this National Day Month with local chef legend Damian D’Silva. Championing local heritage cuisine with rotating weekday set lunch menus, look forward to mouth-watering dishes across the Chinese, Malay, Indian, Peranakan and Eurasian cultures such as the Eurasian Birthday Noodles, which haven’t been featured on Folklore’s menu before. Available 30 July to 31 August, it’s priced at $30++ for two, including two desserts and local-inspired drinks.

DEAN & DELUCA

There is no better way to celebrate our beloved nation’s 53rd birthday than by paying homage to one of our most iconic Singaporean dishes – Hainanese Chicken Rice, but in DEAN & DELUCA fashion! Think steaming hot aromatic jasmine rice with poached tender chicken breast slices all within a comforting warm tortilla wrap. And of course, the highly adored ginger chilli sauce is a must. To tie it all up, we would also be pairing our Chicken Rice Wrap with achar for some added tangy goodness.

Caffe Fernet’s 4-course family style dinner for the occasion includes moreish dishes like the Atlantic Lobster and Prawn Ravioli, Grilled Chicken Piccata and Braised Beef Short Rib Rendang. Feel patriotic with free flow drinks that include our national cocktail (yes we’re referring to the Singapore Sling), refreshing Watermelon Frose and Aperol Spritz, as well as red and white wines. End National Day on a sweet note with a tasting of locally-inspired sweets that you get to enjoy with the stellar view of the National Day fireworks!
