Singapore is a foodie nation through and through, so what better way to celebrate the country’s 52nd birthday (happening on 9 August) than to wine and dine with the best food and drinks possible? This month, grab your flags, put on your reds and whites, and proceed to stuff your face with glorious local and international delicacies from one of these 9 excellent restaurants – because to not do so would be simply un-Singaporean.
the kitchen table
An ethnic melting pot of intense flavours awaits at W Singapore – Sentosa Cove’s the kitchen table, where a glorious Sunday brunch aptly named “Lion Remix” promises a bottomless array of XO-sauce Chai Tau Kway, Rojak, Popiah, and other hearty hawker delights. At $168++, you’ll also get an endless supply of bubbly, house reds and whites, cocktails, and beers to toast to Singapore’s birthday. After which, put on your sexiest swim wear for the Pool Vibes Only party (think face painting and sunset yoga) happening at the hotel’s giant outdoor pool, WET – it’s free for all brunch goers.
Alternatively, make your way down for the restaurant’s contemporary Pera-Makan feast inspired by the amazing cuisine of the Straits-Chinese later in the month, which pays homage to all things local with dishes such as Ayam Tempra, Sambal Udang Petai, and Babi Assam. And don’t forget the unique bite-sized kuehs.
