Sally Clarke, Founder of ENECAA will discuss with course attendees the revitalisation of the new silk roads, through a focus on the contemporary artistic culture of the Central Asian region. It is a combination of lectures with debates, as participants journey through over 30 paintings, depicting subjects ranging from metaphorical landscapes, traditional symbols, abstract and semi-abstract compositions to portraits.
Many of the artworks explore subjects distinct to Central Asia yet universal in their discussion of human experience and historical themes. Executed in styles ranging from the photo-realistic and figurative to the narrative or naive, to the surrealistic and abstract, they highlight the sophisticated breadth and depth of post-Soviet Central Asian art practices.
This course is ideal for docents, art enthusiasts, art students and anyone with an interest in learning about this exciting and emergent contributing region to the global art scene or in art history in general.
The course will run from 12 October till 2 November 2015, every Monday and Wednesday from 7pm to 9pm. The cost of the course is $320.
