In a city where going to the cinema usually means visiting a freezing shopping mall, Films At The Fort is set to again offer Singaporeans a more enjoyable cinema experience. The second edition of this event (which sold out in 2013) will take place from August 1st-10th at Fort Canning Park. ‘There’s no better way to watch a film than with friends at an open-air cinema under the stars’ says Ben Williams, event organiser and director of Groundswell Events.
Set in the natural amphitheatre of Fort Canning Park, Films at the Fort is screening an award winning feature film each night of the event. Screening films that aren’t usually available in Singapore cinemas and accompanied by gourmet food and wine, the audience is encouraged to arrive early, enjoy a picnic hamper from Jones the Grocer or My Private Chef, have a glass of wine, relax and enjoy the ambience with friends as the sun sets over Fort Canning. The first 300 people to arrive each night will receive a Kiehl’s luxury skincare pack and there are Bell & Ross watch giveaways to be won.
Films At The Fort has an outstanding film programme this year, with most films having won an Academy Award or a prestigious Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival. The first Singaporean film to win an award at Cannes, Ilo Ilo is being screened as well as critically acclaimed films from the US, Europe and China. ‘We are thrilled to be offering this exciting film programme in Singapore. Each film is exceptional in its own right and a true cinematic delight on the big screen’, says Mr Williams.
Whether you are interested in new releases, classics, cult classics or documentaries, Films At The Fort has a film that is guaranteed to provide you with a memorable experience.
