Opera in the Park

SLO celebrates its 7th season of Opera in the Park at the Singapore Botanic Gardens

Singapore Lyric Opera (SLO) once again brings opera to the outdoor this year by presenting Opera in the Park at Shaw Foundation Symphony Stage on Saturday, 7 June 2014 at 6pm.

Celebrating its 7th year at Singapore Botanic Gardens where it first started, this casual setting allows audiences to bring their friends and have a picnic while enjoying the performances.

The programme line-up for this year is definitely exciting as audiences can expect to enjoy favourite excerpts from opera classics such as Lehar’s The Merry Widow, Bizet’s Carmen, Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro, Puccini’s Tosca and Wagner’s Tannhäuser.
Singaporean conductor, Mr Joshua Tan, will lead the Singapore Lyric Opera Orchestra and singers like tenor Melvin Tan and baritone William Lim at this performance. Included in the concert will be young singers from the Department of Music, Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts.

Opera in the Park is a channel for which Singapore Lyric Opera provides opportunities for young singers to hone their performing skills and also allow Singapore Lyric Opera to identify young voices to add to its stable of singers for concerts and operas.

The SLO Children’s Choir will also make its guest appearance at the concert.

When: 6pm, 7 June 2014

Where: Shaw Foundation Symphony Stage, Singapore Botanic Gardens

Admission is FREE
