You’re hot, hungry, and worn out after work or hitting the shops too hard. The last thing you want to think about is where to refuel. With so many restaurants, cafes, and bars along Orchard Road in Singapore, it can be hard to make a good decision of where to eat or drink.

But don’t fret, we’ve racked our brains to bring you our go-to list of places for brunch, lunch, afternoon tea, coffee, and dinner on the bustling Orchard stretch, so you don’t have to hurt yours next time!

Brunch

Sacha & Sons

Styled after New York’s iconic delis, Sacha & Sons promises a unique experience to complement their signature pastrami. The bagels are also a popular item on the must-try list!

Kith Café

Kith’s philosophy includes being everyone’s neighbourhood favourite, and they accomplish that by serving up great coffee, a friendly welcome, good vibes and tasty nosh. Read about Kith as part of our brunch feature here.

The Providore

Great coffee and tasty food powered up by the likes of Toby’s Estate, Huber’s Butchery and Bakery Artisan Original. We’ve reviewed The Providore before, and it’s definitely worthy of a first-off brunch munch! Plus, we’ve found a new favourite since then: the Lobster Mac & Cheese.

Wild Honey

Wild Honey does all day breakfast from countries all across the world. Possibilities abound; whether you fancy something sweet, spicy, chewy, gooey, simple or elegant, you’ll find it all here. Read our review here.

Kilo @ PACT

PACT is a cool multi-purpose concept space, and Kilo is the component of that space that serves mouth-watering food. We love their blend of Italian, Japanese and Vietnamese cuisine brought to you by the guys behind the tasty as anything Kilo. Read our review here.

PS Café at Palais Renaissance

This might seem an obvious one which needs no introduction. It has stood the test of time by virtue of its excellent service and consistent quality, and is therefore worthy of a spot on this list if you’re at the upper end of Orchard Road.

Real Food

For something super healthy which will leave you with a spring in your step and a happy tummy, there’s nothing more we love than getting powered up with wholesome vegetarian goodness at Real Food. Read our review here.

Coffee

The Coffee Academics

Like their name suggests, the Coffee Academics are serious about their coffee. From custom blends and a choice of unique hand drip methods to monthly seasonal single origin coffees, finding the right brew for your palate is a matter of time.

Oriole Coffee + Bar

 

The aromatic coffee brewed by the award-winning baristas is clearly the main draw, but Oriole Coffee + Bar also offers a warm ambience perfect for relaxing with a cuppa joe by your side. The food here isn’t half bad either.

Watanabe Coffee

This trendy Japanese café offers a selection of coffees and teas. The matcha latte here comes highly recommended. You can also try the uncommon cold brewed coffee; a technique that involves steeping coffee grounds in room temperature or cold water.

Burgers & Meats

Bedrock Bar & Grill

For one of the best steaks in Singapore, served up in a sophisticated setting, Bedrock is the go-to on Orchard. Though the steaks are a little pricey, their burgers are a great alternative if you’re looking for something a little more wallet-friendly.

Bedrock Bar & Grill is located at 96 Somerset Road, Pan Pacific Serviced Suites Orchard, 01-05 Singapore 238163. Open daily 12pm – 3pm, 6.30am – 12am.

Blackbird Bistro & Bar

If you’re stuck on the Plaza Sing end of Orchard and don’t fancy eating in a mall, check out this unassuming little gem serving up great comfort food including delicious burgers. Read our review here.

Omakase Burger

Touted by some as the best burger in Singapore, its price is arguably on par with its reputation. That said, the delicious burgers will tempt you into breaking the bank (relatively speaking).

Wildfire Burgers

Thankfully for this guide, Wildfire Burgers decided to open a 2nd branch in a more centralized location in Singapore. Look forward to juicy burgers and crispy fried chicken, including the 20 pieces daily limited Périgord Burger.

Opus Bar & Grill

Opus Bar & Grill’s signature innovation is its Himalayan salt tile cabinet and charcoal grills. Coupled with the highest quality cuts, it is no wonder that excellent steaks are the result.

OverEasy Orchard

OverEasy is an all-American diner that serves comfort food à la sliders and Mac & Cheese. Also give their unique Beer Can Chicken a try; though be warned of the lengthy (~45 min) prep time!

Lawry’s Prime Rib

It goes without question that the prime rib here is mouth watering-ly delicious (it’s in their name!). Order the spinning salad to enjoy a display of showmanship with your meal.

Luke’s Oyster Bar & Chophouse

A “chophouse” is a restaurant specialising in steaks, chops, and similar fare; that is exactly what Luke’s does, and does well. In addition, the oyster bar half of the restaurant provides a worthy companion in the form of freshly imported seafood.

Pastries & Sweets

Antoinette

Named for the French queen Marie-Antoinette, this Parisian inspired outlet boasts an array of pastries and sweets that would make the French blush.

Maison Kayser

If you love your croissants, then Maison Kayser does croissants with a capital C. Some say it’s the best bakery in town being from of course, one of the best bakers in the world…we’ll leave you to be the judge.

Artisan Boulangerie Co

You’ll be sure to spend at least 10 minutes ogling the counter of cakes, pies, sourdough, baguettes and challah before you begin to order here. Then the next hurdle; crunchy baguette, soft sweet treat – or both! Read our review here.

Chalk Farm

It’s the cupcakes here that we’re all about – the sit down area is virtually non-existent (couple of people max) so this is more the place to get your sweet fix on the go. Our personal favourites are the Red Velvet and Macadamia & Salted Caramel cupcake.

Kki Sweets

This charming little place is known for its pretty cakes based on French pastries with a twist of Japanese inspiration. Some may remember this place from its previous location on Ann Siang Hill.

Nunsaram Korean Dessert Café

Nunsaram specializes in Bingsu, a Korean shaved ice dessert with toppings ranging from red bean to cheese to black sesame. Those who aren’t fans of cold treats can also peruse their side menu consisting of various types of toast.

European

Saveur

The restaurant’s second branch at Far East Plaza sticks to its vision of serving up quality French cuisine for accessible prices, and we just love them for that. See our review here.

Saveur Art

Saveur is a favourite among Singaporeans for French fare at affordable prices. Saveur Art distinguishes itself by promising to be, in their own words, “a push towards perfection”. Perennial must tries on Saveur’s menu are the crispy duck leg confit and the egg confit.

Les Amis

Les Amis has been whipping up delectable French cuisine in Singapore since 1994. This means that Les Amis most certainly earns its place on this list. If you’re looking for a more chi chi experience in Orchard, then Les Amis should be on your upper crust list. Read our review here.

Iggy’s

Iggy’s can let their assortment of awards and accolades speak for them, but their menu speaks for itself.

Iggy’s is located at 581 Orchard Road, Level 3 of The Hilton Hotel, Singapore 238883. Open Mon-Tue, Thu-Sat 12pm – 1.30pm, 7pm – 9.30pm.

Basilico

Basilico is Italy’s contribution to this list. The buffet here was voted by Chope users as best buffet in 2014 and 2015, and it looks to remain a strong contender for 2016. An a la carte menu is also available.

Chinese

Imperial Treasure Super Peking Duck

If you’re in the mood for devouring Peking duck done deliciously well, then come here for your Peking duck fix. It’s also a decent spot for dim sum.

Jiang-Nan Chun

This Cantonese establishment was recently renovated and reopened in mid-February this year. The menus were reinvigorated along with the premises, giving you a compelling reason to visit (or revisit) Jiang-Nan Chun.

Noodle Place Restaurant

Noodle Place Restaurant offers a causal dining setting to indulge in your favourite Hong Kong style noodles and congee. The shrimp wanton noodles here deserve a try, if only because they’re different from other wanton noodles typically found in Singapore.

Crystal Jade Golden Palace

The Crystal Jade franchise we all know and love offers an outlet to revel in fantastic dim sum in Orchard Road via the Golden Palace brand.

Hai Di Lao

Hai Di Lao typically has a substantial wait time, but that wait time is made tolerable, to say the least, by free flow complimentary drinks and snacks. The hot pot itself, from the soup base to the various meats and vegetables, are both fresh and of high quality.

Jing Hua Restaurant

Jing Hua says its menu hasn’t changed since its inception; a claim made believable by the limited items available. However, it appears that Jing Hua believes in quality over quantity, with each item a worthy contender for the privilege of your meal selection.

Din Tai Fung

Din Tai Fung should need no introduction. For the uninitiated, their xiao long bao (soup dumplings) has always been a crowd pleaser, while their fried rice and beef noodles provide more substantial (and also delicious) nourishment. Fortunately, Din Tai Fung has 2 branches in the Orchard area for everyone to share.

Mitzo

Mitzo offers a quirky blend of Cantonese food and cocktails. In line with their vision of reinventing the Chinese dining experience, Mitzo makes innovative use of familiar ingredients to create a unique experience for its diners.

Japanese

Tanuki Raw

From the guys behind the Standing Sushi Bar, Tanuki Raw is a good spot to eat inexpensive sushi. If you’re a seafood lover, get in on the daily happy hour (5pm to 8pm) where you can get freshly shucked oysters for $2.

Ito-Kacho

Tonkatsu by Ma Maison

The Tonkatsu by Ma Maison is certainly one of the best we’ve tasted in Singapore. Crispy and fragrant on the outside, juicy on the inside served up with an assortment of delicious sides and condiments. It gets busy so book or be prepared for a queue.

Nana’s Green Tea

If you’re wandering around Plaza Singapura befuddled by the plethora of eating options to plump for then we rather like Nana’s Green Tea for their bigger is better philosophy to sushi (and great value lunch sets). Read our full review here.

Koh Grill & Sushi Bar

Koh Grill & Sushi Bar is probably well known amongst most of you, as is the fact that you’ll probably need to stand in a long line before gaining entry unless it’s off-peak. This place nestled in the corner of Wisma Atria’s Food Republic has earned quite a reputation for the good stuff at great prices. That’s why it made our list of ‘great places to get sushi’ list here.

Koh Grill & Sushi Bar is located at Wisma Atria Shopping Centre, 435 Orchard Road, #04-21, 238877. Open daily 11.30am – 10.30pm.

Izakaya Nijumaru Restaurant

One of the hidden finds of Cuppage Plaza – known for being a treasure trove of Japanese cuisine – where you can bag a Sashimi Bento set for $15 with 9 pieces of sashimi. Good food at reasonable prices is always welcome at City Nomads.

Kaiho Sushi

Kaiho is another gem of Cuppage Plaza. If you’re a salmon nut like the team at City Nomads, there is only one word to describe the Salmon and Ikura Don ($28): exquisite. Read our full review here and see why it made our list of places for sushi for less.

The Sushi Bar

Yes it’s the best kept secret of Far East Plaza! Seriously reasonably priced sushi at this ambitious hole-in-the-wall which will leave you wanting to hog it all. Read our review here and see it featured in our list on great sushi for less here.

The Rice Table

The Rice Table (rijsttafel) is a concept adapted by the Dutch to serve a wide assortment of food at once. The Rice Table Restaurant does just that, combining the rijsttafel concept with an all-you-can-eat lunch or dinner buffet. Read our review here.

Nam Nam Noodle Bar

You’ll have to be quick off the mark to beat the queues here. If you manage to, food is served relatively promptly, so if you’re looking for a quick(ish) restorative bowl of Pho to give you some lunchtime juice then Nam Nam should be your port of call.

Nara Thai

Nara Thai brings classic Thai food to you in an accessible, affordably priced casual dining environment. Their uniquely hued Blue Jasmine rice is the main aesthetic draw, though its gastronomic virtues are not to be underestimated.

Bars

Manhattan

Manhattan succeeds in recreating the New York experience, from the lavish surroundings to the themed menus. The adults-only weekend Cocktail Brunch is perhaps the best experience Manhattan has to offer, with free flow craft cocktails, beers and wines. And we haven’t mentioned the food yet (think free flow lobster and foie gras).

One-Ninety Bar

This bar has it all: handcrafted cocktails with secret ingredients (including their award-winning dry martini), pastries, cakes, burgers, sandwiches and even Cantonese style hor fun. In addition to catering for the standard 3 meals of the day, One-Ninety Bar also does an afternoon tea set.

The Horse’s Mouth

Part of the Horse’s Mouth shtick is their hidden bar concept; there is no marked or obvious entrance to this bar. (Read our review for directions!) The hidden bar together with a slick underground setting keeps you insulated from the hustle and bustle outside, allowing you to savour your cocktails in peace.

5 on Emerald Hill

Simply named for its location, 5 on Emerald Hill offers decent cocktails and tasty chicken wings. Check out their happy hour for an even better deal.

Jibiru

Jibiru is the perfect place to hang out with a cold beer in your hands and yakiniku (grilled meat dishes) on your plate. The aforementioned beer can come from a wide selection of hand crafted brews, a point of pride for a place that translates as “local beer”.
