Refuge, Singapore’s only dedicated R&B and Hip Hop club and lounge, is launching The Sunday Tribe on Nov 15. The debut marks the first of Refuge’s Sunday party series at three of its spaces –the rooftop, lounge and club –where great music, food, art presentations and fringe activities take centrestage.
The first installment will celebrate the life of the late Nigerian musical icon and political activist Fela Anikulakpo Kuti, who began the Afrobeatmovement.
Refuge’s debut on Nov 15 is its take on Felabration!, annual music and arts festival that commemorates the life and times of Kuti. The headliner for Felabration! will be DJ Rich Medina, the legendary NYC DJ who established JUMP N FUNK in 2001, North America’s original Afrobeat party at the APT club in Manhattan’s ultra-hot Meatpacking District. This is a collaboration between Refuge and Tropical Temple music outfit, which brings deep, funky, tribal and soulful tunes from Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean, from the global dance floor to Asia.
The Sunday Tribe: FELABRATION! is happening on Sunday, 15 November 2015 from 2pm till late at Refuge.
