Review: Habitual Bali – Proper Meals and Great Coffee

Bali is packed with good restaurants, beautiful hotels and villas, but it wasn’t quite so easy to THE burger until Habitual came along. Located on Jalan Umalas 1, the concept stems from the food that Habitual’s founders love and would eat on a regular basis in New York City. Plus, with a motto like “Quench & Feed”, you know that you’ll be well fed here.

Fresh Tomato Soup

Offering a comprehensive breakfast and lunch menu that’s classically American in style; look forward to dishes like Pancakes with Syrup (Rp 65k), Steak and Egg (Rp 115k), Grilled Cheese Sandwich (Rp 70k), Mac & Cheese (Rp 75k), and Kaffir Lime Chicken Burger (Rp 75k).

Mushroom, Cheese & Onions Burger

For starters, we had the Fresh Tomato Soup (Rp 45k) – think tomatoes, leeks, garlic, cream, olive oil, and fresh thyme with grilled cheese. Tasty, light and a great appetiser. While we’re spoilt for choice when it comes to the main courses, we went with the Mushroom, Cheese & Onions Burger (Rp 110k).

Packed with lettuce, tomato, pickles, bacon, beef patty, cheese, caramelised onions, and sautéed mushrooms, the fluffy lightly toasted bun soaked up the juices from the moist and juicy beef patty. In short, it was delicious and heaven in my mouth. As for its sidekick – the hand-cut fries – are probably the best we’ve eaten so far in Bali. Thin, crispy, and freshly deep fried.

Like everyone else, we love an over indulgent meal and we couldn’t resist a good ol’ classic Chocolate Milkshake (Rp 45k). Vegans and folks who are lactose intolerant can expect an extensive list of coffee, tea, and soda on the menu. We hear that the Bloody Mary (Rp 85k) is superb too!

There’s nothing we would change about Habitual, and a big thumbs up to the chef for taking pride in sourcing good, local and fresh ingredients to fill our bellies.

On a side note, they have recently changed their service hours, and loyal customers can now grab their favourite burgers at dinner now.

And if the Bali rain gets in the way, delivery is also available!

Habitual (Quench & Feed) is located Jalan Umalas 1 No. 12B, Kerobokan, Badung, Bali, Indonesia. Open from Tuesday to Sunday, 7am to 9pm.
