Culoe De Song is constantly rising higher – a fact that’s sealed by his second album, which is aptly-titled ‘Elevation’. It’s a record that takes the producer’s trademark, trance-inducing deep house into what he describes as ‘a new and evolutionary stage.’ Culoe’s music has been described as ‘epic African house with a strange touch,’ while he sums it up as ‘a dramatic vibration of ‘the drum’.’ Culoe’s chords sky-write while his rhythms writhe, and more than any other SA house artist he’s managed to ‘successfully segue international and local sounds – mixing the best beats from both worlds. ”Elevation” he says confidently, is ‘a vintage album; one that will last a long time.’ There can be little doubt he’s right.
Born in the northern parts of South Africa’s east coast, Culolethu Zulu, also known as ‘Culoe De Song’, hasn’t looked back after putting passion in the forefront of his life. He’s been living music ever since his talent, as a DJ and Producer was acknowledged not too long ago. Culoe’s serious music career began in early 2007 when he produced a piece that made him a feature in Black Coffee’s second offering, ‘Have Another One’. The track was named ‘100 Zulu Warriors’ and carries a fundamental importance for Culoe De Song as he regards it as ‘his beginning’ in the circle of music in South Africa.
Culoe De Song is working towards making a number of world appearances and portraying the best image of what lies in the inside his heart.
