Seventy Shades Of Play

Directed by Elena Scherer, Gavin Low, Nick Perry and Nick Kenny, this one glorious night of entertainment will feature seven captivating scenes from seven plays, such as ‘Oscar Wilde’s “The Importance of Being Earnest” and Keith Waterhouse’s “Jeffrey Barnard is Unwell”, spanning seven centuries of work for theatre by leading English writers.

Besides encouraging serious laughter from the hilarious comic and character acting, to get the audience humming along and start their feet tapping, there will be a number of musical interludes, mostly songs from popular musicals.

The cast includes some established acting and singing talents – including Nick Cheadle, Hunter Wood, Jane Grafton, Foofie Gunawardena, Nicola Kong, Nikki Hewett, Jasmine Buckingham, Erick Guansing, Shawn Quah, Steve Clark, Nicola Perry – and some relative newcomers to the Singapore stage – Elizabeth Grace Daria, Paul Heath, Tomomi Kikuchi, Naeem Kapadia, Vivienne Wong and Shawn Smith.

“Seventy Shades of Play” is so named to celebrate The Stage Club’s 70 years of presenting theatre for Singapore audiences and as the show incorporates scenes from plays which have been performed by the Club since 1945.

“Seventy Shades of Play” is taking place from Wednesday, 27 May to Saturday, 30 May at the DBS Arts Centre.
