Singapore by Singapore: From Myth to Neon Realism – Short Films Screened Under The Stars

Experience a screening of rare and never-before-screened films that explore Singapore’s evolution ‘from mangrove to metropolis’. Presented on a 6-metre wide screen on the LASALLE College of the Arts green, the programme includes a screening of Rajendra Gour’s historic film ‘Sunshine Singapore’ (1968–72) and the premiere of ‘Chinatown. electric soul #01’ (2013) by Nelson Yeo.

‘Singapore by Singapore: From myth to neon realism’ is curated by Silke Schmickl, curator and head of film Lowave; and Nicole Brenez, film scholar and professor of cinema studies at the University of Paris 3: Sorbonne Nouvelle. The programme is presented by the ICA Singapore as part of the Singapore Art Week (17–25 January 2015).

This event is happening on Saturday, 24 January from 7.30pm onwards at LASALLE College of the Arts.

Admission is free.
