Solitude is the first solo exhibition by young Singaporean photographer Azahar Rashid. Confronting unfamiliar roads, faces and cultures, Azahar was forced out of his comfort zone, into the unknown, opening his mind towards embracing the commonality of human and nature.
Azahar’s collection of photographs features mountains, lakes and forestsand opens an abounding interpretation of solitude. Through his works, hehopes to depict one’s undisclosed array of perceptions and emotions when one is looking through another’s reflection of an opened mind.
About Azahar Rashid
Born in 1982, Azahar Rashid was first introduced to photography while studying Interior Design at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA). Having graduated in 2007 with a diploma in Interior Design, he explored photography as a communication tool and, in 2012, graduated from the LASALLE College of the Arts with a BA (Hons) in Fine Arts.
In 2003, he won a merit award in a photography competition organized by the Ministry of Home Affairs and was one of the winners in a travel photography contest jointly organized by Silkair & The Straits times (June 2010). His works were also featured in the May 2010 issue of JPLUS Magazine.
Azahar’s group exhibitions include Seen UnSeen Photography Exhibition @ LASALLE (2010), LASALLE Graduation Show (2011 & 2012), and the Shaw Lido (Opening) Exhibition (2011).
