Songbirds of the Golden Era of Shanghai Jazz

1 MAR – 31 MAY 2016 | In a nostalgic tribute to the heavenly queens who reigned over the silver screen and theatrical stage in their prime, Resorts World Sentosa is presenting its inaugural Songbirds of the Golden Era, bringing back to life evergreen signature tunes made popular during the 1930’s to 1950’s, and taking audience into the world of Shanghai jazz and swinging cabarets.

Take a trip down memory lane in each 60-minute lunch-time show at 1pm where three experienced stage singers will reprise a playlist of iconic and well-loved melodies by Zhou Xuan, Li Xiang Lan, Wu Ying Yin, Bai Guang, Ge Lan, or Yao Li.

Complementing the singers’ soulful voices with their own renditions of the everlasting hits are four dancers and a three-piece live band who will also dazzle audiences. The three-piece jazz band, comprising a keyboard player, double-bassist and drummer, will be directed by the young and talented August Lum while the emcee for the shows will be none other than local stage veteran, Zhao Jin.

Songbirds of the Golden Era is running from 1 March to 31 May 2016 at Resorts World Theatre. Tickets are priced at $38 and are available via SISTIC.
